Harmonic balancer installation ?
Im about to remove my harmonic balancer from my LG4.I know how to remove it but how do I install it.
I tried using the search in google but didnt find anything useful except I need a special tool.I have the harmonic balancer removal tools tho.
Im removing it becauase I need new timing cover seals/gaskets.So whats the best way to install it?

You can make your own harmonic balancer tool easily, just get a
long i believe 7/16 fine thread 20 bolt and some over size washers and a heavy duty nut.
lube up the mating surfaces of the balancer and the crank, and use a mallet and get the harmonic balancer started on. bottom out your long bolt (all the way in) place a washer then a nut and then start tightening. It will take some grunt then it go on.
Dont ever use the real bolt for your harmonic balancer or you will strip your crank. Trust me... you dont want to go that route...
Go to home depot get a long 7/16" 20 bolt grade 8 large washer and a couple nuts... cost you maybe $3

Resist the urge to use a hammer. It's not a great idea, but if you're in a bind you CAN do it that way. Get a 2x4 and tap it on smoothly and evenly. Regardless of the method you use, be sure to lubricate the crank snout and inside of the keyway with assembly lube.

Knightrider I just replaced the balancer on my '83.Like you I have the puller but not the install tools. If you have an Auto Zone close they have a loan a tool program.Just ask for the balancer install kit.If the counter person looks at you funny show them on the chart what it is.But check it before you leave the store to make sure everything is there.Other wise what Nelapse suggested will do the same thing.Make sure to scotchbrite the crank snout and rub some fresh oil,or assembly lube as Token suggested,on it and the inside of the balancer. If the key is stubborn about staying in place a dab of grease will do a good job of holding it.

Whatever you do, do NOT use the big crank pulley bolt to try and install it. You'll break the bolt and have a really really fun time trying to get that out.

You don't use any bolt to "pull" it in. You'll strip the threads in the crank.
You get about 6" of threaded rod, a couple of washers and a nut. Thread the rod into the crank. The rod is used as an anchor, not as an installer. With the balancer slightly started on the crank, install a couple of flat washers. Putting some oil on the washers helps. Now put the nut on the threaded rod and start tightening it down. The nut will push on the washers which will push on the balancer.
Without a proper installer, this is the best homebuilt method to install a balancer.

82knightrider , surely you're going to install a new timing chain and gear while you have your cover off, aren't you? And check your vibration damper for wear ....possibly install a repair sleeve for a better seal?

You might want to see that they give you the right tool too! At my local Autozone the english version of the counter chart shows the removal and installation tools reversed!! But the spanish language counter chart is correct!!! Go figure.
