charcoal canister

Can i just take it out and plug the lines leading to it with no problems? will i need a vented gascap(i think i heard somthing aobut this somwhere..)? also if i need it for inspection can i just put it back in and it still work fine (assuming i store it carefully)?

what i'm trying to do it get a real air intake and i want to run a tube down the hole the canister sits on down through and up to my grille, also how hard is it to move my battery to the back. is there any problems on that with fumes or anything? seeing as this is hatchback and all. on a side note I've got access to a pit for working under the car if that helps any..

thanx guys,
Chris

the vapor canister thing is on here somewhere if you do a search.I`ve seen it and i do recall it saying if you delete it you need a vented gas cap. and to plug the lines but ive heard its not really that good of an idea,or its not worth the trouble but i could be wrong.Like i said the search feature can help a lot. As for the Battery relocatin, i`m wanting to do it and i`ve looked into it.I`ve found several kits that include a enclosed box, made of plastic or something, that has vent hoses for the gases.I`ve seen prices from $80 to $100.

You can remove the canister and install a vented cap, but expect to lose some mileage as temperatures increase (and more fuel evaporates). Since you need to pass an inspection, you could install a smaller canister under the vehicle like most newer cars. Junk yards are full of them. That would eliminate the need to install and remove it all the time.
