Well I went and Dyno my Z/28 frist time after the 350 swap it was alot better then a LG4 not saying very much but here are the numbers

HP 268 Tq 255 RW 190 it was cuting out big time up top on power I think i'll get rid of the Q- jet and go with a Elderbrock carb also I was alttle rich at idle but alittle lean at WOT.

No need to switch from the Q-Jet to an Edelcrap. Less mileage, less flow, lamer throttle response, and higher emissions are the end result of switching to the edelcrap over a properly dialed in Q-Jet.

I am assuming you are still running the Computer Controlled Q-Jet and the computer controlled distributer.

You just need to find the prom from a 1985-1987 non-TBI police cruiser or Fullsize Truck/Van with the computer controlled Q-Jet in it. Find some earlier 350 secondary metering rods/hanger. A F- Hanger and DR rods will feed a 300 HP 350 effectively. The F-hanger can be found in a 1987-1990 307 9 Vin engine (Cutlass 442 and Cadillac Fleetwood). The DR rods came in all the 305 HOs.

Properly tuned it is a better carb. I don't think it being CC will make a dimes worth of difference at WOT either. What WILL make a difference is the float level setting. If you read the specs it is set very precisely. Set it as high as possible (for maximum acc pump volume) then if it's still lean at WOT change the back rods. If the CC part works the idle should be corrected by ECM. If it is not CC pull the plugs and adjust the idle screws.
Here's my rod assortment. A lot of Q-jets gave their life for these:

I had a self serve junkyard charge me like $5.00 for about 20-30 pair one day. I just walked around the yard collecting primay rods, secondary rods, hangers, power piston springs, etc.

Yea, we're mean bastards aren't we. That's probably 60+ carbs that we left in our wake that weren't worth a damn when we left.
I guess the good news is, we weren't in Florida where 19kilo is...
