DIY race gas...
I've been reading about DIY race gas using toluene and xylene as an "octane enhancer".

Has anyone here tried this? I'm not too interested in opinions, but would rather hear from anyone who has experimented with this.
I can get 100+ Sunoco from a station close to where I work but I'm not about to ruin a good WBO2 running leaded fuel.

100+ octane at sunoco isn't leaded fuel. They haven't made leaded fuel since 197x, it's wayyyy too poisonous. It's got a lead substitute I think.
I have heard a lot about that toluene and whatnot. Price it out though, it's not that cheap. Add a bit of ATF to it to help lubricate the fueling system.

Toluene and xylene have been known for years. The trouble is, the only way to make economical high octane fuel is if you can get these for free or almost free. By the time you add enough toulene to make 100 octane fuel from 92 octane fuel, it's cheaper to just buy race gas.

The prices are very outdated
Octane allows fuel to resist detonation. There's no more power in 92 octane fuel as there is in 100 octane fuel. You only need enough octane to keep the fuel from self detonating. Any more and you're just wasting your money. If you car doesn't knock or ping with 92 octane, (read knock counts if you have a knock sensor), using 100 octane fuel won't make you any faster.
