Odd FP gauge question

Engine: 350
Transmission: 700R4

Odd FP gauge question
Does anyone know if a liquid filled gauge will work accurately if I remove the liquid?
I ask because I have one I like, but the fluid makes the gauge incredibly inaccurate as the temperature changes. I'm installing a new VAFPR and the instructions also highly advise against using a liquid filled gauge.

im not an expert at this, but i would have to assume that it would not work, the fluid must be doing something other than taking up space, or else it would not be there. these things are cheap, why not just get the right one?

The liquid is there to keep the needle from jumping around so much, or so I'm told.
