I'm back, now with a 2nd gen T/A clone
well its been a while, but I am back, picked up a 71 Esprit, T/A clone. Its got a late 350, 1 piece rear seal, stroked to a 383 with a Scat crank. Is not how I would have done my car as it has 2 bolt mains and iron Vortec heads but it still moves. lights em up from a dead stop and not power breakin it. I am here cause my buddy said its "runnin ruff". I did not think it was that bad but I just bought and am opn cloud 9 as they say,.....am really not all there at the moment. Its been a little over 5 years since I was last here. i was goin through all the paperwork and saw that Platinum plugs were installed in it. Got me back here to see if there were any changes in consensus. As I have a late model motor it applies. Off tomorrow to get a cheap set of Delcos or Champions. Its good to be back!!!!!
from the craigslist add, got her for $6500.
1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. New paint and interior, fresh engine and auto trans. Great running driver car. This vehicle is not an original Trans Am, it is a clone. It started life as a Firebird Esprit. When I did the restoration I installed the Trans Am shaker hood, front fenders with air extractors, spoilers and wheel flairs. It has a fresh small block Chevy 383 stroker engine that has been balanced. This is a great running engine. I also have the original Pontiac 350 that came out of the vehicle that is included in the sale. This is an Arizona vehicle with no rust. I have all of the original paper work and original window sticker. If you are looking for a great running driver car that turns heads this is the car for you.
Additional Information:
Low mileage small block Chevy 383 balanced with Holly 4bbl carb.
Auto trans with B&M shift kit and ratchet shifter.
Center console.
The paint is 3 years old but has been stored inside with a cover.
New carpet.
New front seat upholstery, rear seats are original but in good condition.
All of the interior is in good condition. There is a crack on the top of the dash.
Complete front suspension rebuild with new bushings and ball joints.
15x7 Pontiac Rally wheels. Tires are in fair condition, about 40% tread left.
Front disk brakes.
160 MPH speedometer.

Re: I'm back, now with a 2nd gen T/A clone
If you take a 2nd gen Firebird and put a Chevy motor in it, it is now, for all intents and purposes other than licensing and esthetics, a 2nd gen Camaro. It just has slightly different wrinkles in the sheet metal and a different set of stickers. Big woop.
This is a 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird site. Yes, we have some of the most knowledgeable people here, when it comes to motors and transmissions and racing and such. This site is however reserved for thirdgen discussions.
You should use the 2nd gen Camaro/Firebird sites, and other sites with good Chevy motor info such as the Chevelle forum, for further research.

If the discussion is about the engine, we'll let it live here.
If it drifts to the car or about the engine in the car, then it's lights-out.
