serpentine belt

I have dissconnected my air pump and now want to remove it.I have read the article on here about doing this and my question is about part numbers. On the article on here it says to use a Dayco 968K6 belt,i have looked on line but cannot find one with that part number,i have found some on amazon but the part numbers are different, does anyone know what the part number will be.These are the ones on amazon, you need to scroll down a little,

Re: serpentine belt

If you were to translate the part number it would be:
96.8" long belt
6 ribs

Your local parts store should be able to match that up with something. Dayco belts suck anyways.

Re: serpentine belt

I only looked at ones on amazon because they were the only ones that came up on google with that part number.I don't have a local parts store for american car parts as i am in England so,there are a few american parts suppliers over here but they are expensive, its cheaper to source most parts myself from the states.

Re: serpentine belt

If you can find a belt locally that's almost the same size, it should work fine. I'd say anything between 96" and 97" would work, possibly even a little farther from 96.8". The tensioner will make up for a slightly shorter or longer belt.

Re: serpentine belt

you definately will need a longer belt with the rerouting of the stocker. My stock 89 belt was 94.5" long. I was able to reuse it for my AIR/smog pump delete but i had an underdrive crank pulley with stock alternator pulley.

Once i swapped to the smaller alternator pulley i used a 94inch belt. Larger stock crank pulley will want something in the 96-97 range i'm sure.

you can go ahead and buy a few belts from Pepboys or w/e store and try them for fit. Find the one that works and take back the other belts that dont work.
