strange vibration

I get a vibration at 1700-1800 rpm or 65 mph when driving. It's only at that specific rpm, smooth in all other rpm ranges. It vibrates in park or neutral as well, at the same rpm. It sounds like exhaust rubbing against the frame rail. I replaced the tranny mount and the vibration went away for about a week. I was wondering if the motor mounts could be the problem. Edelbrock headers were on the car when I bought it and I've noticed that I dont have much clearance between the k-frame and the driver side header flange(about an 1/8 to 1-4 "). I've also replaced both u-joints and the weights are still on the driveshaft. My IROC is the afflicted vehicle. All opinions & help are welcome and appreciated.

Re: strange vibration

My guess is, if the engine is not missing at all, it's the harmonic balancer or torque convertor.

Re: strange vibration

I had something like that with my ta.. It ended up that the exhaust mount was letting the exhaust move just enough to rub..

Re: strange vibration

Well, I drove the car last night and I still get the vibration between 1600-1700 rpm. I made a mistake it doesnt really do it in park or neutral, only under load. The weird thing is that if I bear to the right or left, while driving, the vibration goes away and after I replaced the tranny mount it went away for about a week. That's why I thought it could be bad motor mounts. Or could it be the tires, a bent rim, or something in the suspension(front or back) that's messed up. The car has been sitting for about 5 months, only being driven enough to keep the battery from dying.
