No compression?
Rings were installed per box instruction...

Turn the engine over by hang with spark plug in the hole and can hear air coming from the oil pan.

Whats going on?

Spray a little WD40 in the spark plug holes. This will help get the engine started and able to run. Did you hone the cylinders? If so, follow the break-in instructions. If not, the rings will not seat correctly and you will need to pull it all apart again. And as long as you didn't line up all the gaps, you should be fine.

All of the rings are 180 from each other. Block was bored .030 over then honed. Its a 12.0-1 engine.

Seems what you have said was repeated by a friend of mine. He suggested the same thing. The engine is not in the car yet. I was just turning it over to adjust all the valvetrian. I could never remember my last one doing this.

If you are 100% sure that you have the rings in right, you may still have nothing to worry about. If the rings were in upside down, it could cause something like that. However, without the force of combustion gasses forcing the rings into place, you may get quite a bit of that. The pressure being generated just isnt enough to seal the rings to the bore.
