What should I set timing and fp to?
Not sure what I should set base timing and fuel pressure at for my new engine. It's a 4 bolt truck 350 with an LT1 cam (factory y-body), World Products sr torquers, ported factory tpi setup 22lb injectors, AFPR, and everything else is basically factory. What would be a good place to start at for base timing? Also what should my I set my fp at? Do I adjust it with vac connected or disconnected?

Can I set the base timing using a vaccum gauge? IIRC what you do is adjust the timing until you reach the highest vaccum reading and then back it off 2 degrees.. Is that correct? Obviously with the est bypass connector disconnected... Also does it matter which one I do first? Should I set the FP first and than the timing or the other way around?

43 psi vacuum disconnected.
Start at 6 deg BTDC and go from there.
I'd do timing first.
I've heard about setting timing in the tables using vacuum but I haven't heard about setting base timing using vacuum.

Re: What should I set timing and fp to?
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I got the fp and timing set today and the new engine seems to run very well, not bad for the $125 I paid for it Now I just have a little problem with my cooling fans not coming on and I should be good to go (started a new thread about it, I may have the connectors for the knock sensor and fan switch backwards). Thanks again!

Fixed the cooling pan problem, runs fine at idle, but has a nasty bog when you go to take off from idle, FP set at 45 with vac disconnected, timing currenty at 6 BTDC, I'm assuming its a timing issue but didnt get a chance to mess with it yet. Think I'll need to go up a tad or down a tad?
