hey first time on thirdgen.com i have a 92 camaro rs v6 3.1 liter auto with only 66k miles on it now i just got it a few days ago and so far its been driving like a dream but today i was coming home and just before i pulled into my drive way my camaro started to rumble i pulled it in and turned it off...i waited about 2 mins turned it back on and it seemed fine so i put it into reverse to drive it around the block real quick to see if it was fine and when i shifted into reverse it rumbled again i started to back out and the check engine light came on and then the camaro shut right off it wouldnt turn back on after about a min it finally turned over and i pulled it back in the rumbling only seems to happen if i idle or its in reverse any idea guys??

 

can you post a video of it. sounds like maybe a bad converter or other trans prob.
your normal engine sounds are probably drowning out the noise at higher rpms
check your tranny fluid see if its there, and or burnt to heck

 

id love to post a vid but sadly i dont have anything to get it up on this site i dont have a camera or anything maybe it is the tranny fluid i didnt think of checking that

 

My EGR went bad on my 3.1 and I had symptoms sorta like that

 

I have a 88 GTA 350 does the exact same thing runs great on the highway, but wants to stall when idle or in gear sitting.

I was gonna give mine a a good tune up Fri. plugs, wires, dist. rotor. and if that didnt work i was gonna change the egr valve.

if those 2 things dont work was gonna try to give it a flush to clean the injectors and stuff

But if u find a solution let me know. so i could try it on mine.
