zz4 heads question

hello, I bought a set of zz4 heads for the build i'm doing. My question is, I also bought some 1.6 full roller rockers last year, non self alinging. Is there any way that I can use them with these heads? I didn't realize their pushrod holes were so big until after I bought them. The build, so far, consists of, 92 roller block, hyper pistons, .30 over, polished tpi, 58mm t/b, megasquirt v3, LT4 hot cam, scorpion 1.6 rockers, zz4 heads

thanks

Re: zz4 heads question

You're going to need guideplates to use them. ZZ4 heads use self-aligning rockers.

Re: zz4 heads question

All the guide plates I have seen so far are open ended. Is that gonna make a difference on these heads where instead of haveing small slotted or circle holes it's wide open between them?

Re: zz4 heads question

sell the rockers and get self aligning ones.
valve guides also rub against the pushrods so there is the problem with the pushrods wearing as a result of that - you need hardened push rods. you dont have that problem with self aligning rockers.
that is what happens when you dont read everything about what you are doing before you do it.

Re: zz4 heads question

Yes, that's true- you will need hardened pushrods with guideplates. But the cost of a set of guideplates and hardened sticks is still going to be a lot less than the cost of a set of self-aligning rockers that are quality/performance equivalent to the ones you have now.

Re: zz4 heads question

If you use stock guide plates and push rods (Corvette) you are ok, they are not hardened and don't need to be.
