Starting issues! please help

If I told you how much money I put into her, you would probably die laughing. But recently replaced the transmission. As well as a remanufactured alternator because it had problems starting some mornings. So the next day it would not start, no electricity at all, after 10 minutes of turning the key it finally fired up. But now this week the car is completely dead. I haven't tried jumping or charging the battery because I haven't had time. I feel like its something in the ignition or starter. I dont know, if theres anything I can do without paying a dime more please let me know.

Okay is it turning over at all??? need more input on that. secondly if it isn't i would check you're nuetral safety switch to see if its the colprit. if automatic it will be in you're floor shifter. looks like a banana u shape. which will cost 9 dollars. and if thats not the problem i would check the starter switch which you will need to unbolt 2 bolts from the steering column drop it and look ON top of the steering column. a 15 dollar part now there is different ones for tilt column and non tilt. I had the same problem with mine. i just changed both of them to be on the safe side but mine was the starter switch and when you assemble it in make sure you get it adjusted correctly. Check the starter switch first. and put a new starter switch in first.

If none of the interior lights will even come on, it's very possible your battery is completely drained. Check that first, if that isn't it, it's most likely your ignition switch or neutral safety/clutch position sensor, depending on your transmission.

you can jump the two big wires on the neutral safety switch and see if that starts it. just make sure it's in park! Could also be the starter solenoid going bad.

Re: Starting issues! please help

True, but first thing I would do is take a voltmeter and check the battery. Simplest solution, and not uncommon, especially if it had a bad alternator earlier.

Re: Starting issues! please help

I had a quick question. When you replaced your neutral safety switch did you have to remove the whole console? I've tried taking the neutral safety switch off but I just removed the faceplate. I want to make sure before I remove the console that I can remove the switch. Also, my problem is my reverse lights. My reverse lights blink when I put in gear but do not stay on while I'm backing up.

Re: Starting issues! please help

Your alternator probably wasnt bad, it was probably the battery has a dead cell in it and wont hold a charge over night. If your headlights wont come on then you need to buy a battery.
