Oil sending unit
Hi all,
As i posted earlier,my oil pressure gauge on my 83 camaro is peaked out when i start my car.I checked the dc voltage with a meter and got 8 vdc.Does anyone happen to know what voltage i am suppose to have?
Been checking around online, havent found any info yet.
Thanks

Re: Oil sending unit
What motor. On my LG4 the oil sending unit puked giving strage readings (but mine was actually leaking). I dont know the voltages.
Its a $17 part and short of some bloddy knuckles, easy to replace. Only thing for me I had to get one from 3 different stores as the darn universal parts were just a tine bit different shape and would not fit right. Finally 3rd one was closest to original to work.

Re: Oil sending unit
Hi,
Its a 305 engine.Let me tell you what has happened.i recently replaced my stock intake and carb. The sending unit was working prior to me replacing the intake. Its plugged back in(boot cover over wire) and now when i start my car its reading maxed out.Has me scared thinking i did something wrong when i replaced my intake.
Also,I just finished hooking up the throttle cable, transmission cable.I have one more cable that i didnt hook up yet.Is this my throttle kickdown cable or a cruise control cable(which i dont have). The reason i ask is that when I first turn the car on its idling very high and i cant get it to kickdown.Once i put it in gear, the RPM'S drop to around 10k causing the car to almot die out.I know my timing is off,but i am trying to get it close.
