Important questions about brakes.
First of all, I know this should of been posted in the brakes section, but let's face it, no one looks there.
Pretty soon I'm going to be buying some 18's, and I've never thought about brakes.
What did these cars come with as far as brakes? I've heard of them having drum and disc brakes, does anyone know what an 86 Iroc came with? Also, are there any modern vented and cross drilled big brake kits available for Third Gens?
I really DO NOT want to be just another clueless person with bigger rims, running stock brakes. That is just waiting for an accident, I want my car to be able to stop before it goes.

ya, you could upgrade the brakes. but you really just need more clamping force. try checking out summitracing.com or call up Hawks ( http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ ) at 1(864)855-2694. they deal with tech questions about brakes and bigger rims directly over the phone. they've seen everything.

Re: Important questions about brakes.
Thanks for the info guys. I was looking on Iroc zone under the Z28 Special Performance Package and it says Positraction (G80) mandatory when equipped with 4 wheel disc brakes, and my Iroc has a posi rear end.
I'm guessing that means I won't have to do a drum to disc conversion which is good, so I'm thinking the Wilwood's would be almost a bolt on kit.
