I have only hours on my motor not even miles and I have a coolant leak coming from the back of my engine. The bottom of the bellhousing is where I usually get the drip but it will also be on the oil pan a little too. I am pretty sure it is the rear freeze plug because I can see the back of the intake and it doesnt look like its leaking although I will double check it tomorrow when I work on it. The problem is when I took off the valve cover today I saw a little antifreeze mixed in with oil where it pools in the corner of the head where the head bolts are. Has anyone ever had a rear freeze plug leak and get into the oil? Is it going down the back of the block and leaking into the pan somehow?? I wanted to do a cam swap so I would replace the intake gasket and I would just yank the motor up and try and replace the rear freeze plug while it is over the engine bay so I can put it back in quickly. (time is a factor now because I work and go to school and winter is approaching quickly for me) The only other way antifreeze can mix with the oil is the head gasket right? I really dont want to have to replace them because the heads are brand new and the gaskets are fel-pro and like I said the motor only has hours on it and you really cant mess up head gaskets. I really dont want to pull the motor and replace the freeze plug and intake gasket for there to still be a problem. I have a lakewood bellhousing which has the engine plate on the back of the motor which probably means I will have to remove the cluctch, pressure plate, and flywheel to get the plate off to get to the freeze plug. Just wondering what you guys think and if anyone has had a rear freeze plug leak and get into their oil. Thanks for the help!!!

I think you can do a compression test if head gasket is leaking it should tell you. Did you use torque wrench on head bolts?

Yes I used a torque wrench and its studded with arp hardware so I didnt even skimp out lol. Thats why I really doubt it is the head gasket but at this point who knows? Compression test would work for coolant leak ? Coolant ports are seperate of combustion chamber so I am not sure if it will. Anyway to check if it is the head gaskets? The question is has anyone had a rear freeze plug leak and get into their oil some how?? Because im hoping that the chances are its only one coolant leak because since the beginning pretty much I have noticed coolant at the bottom of the bell housing and no where else have I noticed a leak. So im hoping it somehow is just the freeze plug. Thanks for the help again guys.

Did you put sealant on your head studs?
The studs/bolts on the outside of the head ALL go into a water jacket.

I will check with my cousin who was there with me when we built it but I think we put sealant on ALL of them. So i dont know if its thats.
