Installing Engine, where do you bolt to?

What bolt holes do you use when installing a new engine? When I pulled it, I attached chains to the heads. However, my new heads are AFR's and I cannot stomach the thought of lifting my engine and installing it by using my heads.

Thank you for your help!

Re: Installing Engine, where do you bolt to?

Another option would be to remove carb and build/make a plate that attaches to the intake where the carb goes that has provisions for lifting the motor........but this can cause intake manifold leaks......so I would temporarily bolt up the manifold WITHOUT GASKETS, install the motor, then remove the manifold and reinstall to specs with gaskets and such.....

He doesn't have a carb.

Use the intake manifold method listed above or just go ahead and use the accessory holes on the heads. It'll be fine.

Re: Installing Engine, where do you bolt to?

Okay, so it sounds like I need to use the exact same spots for when I pulled it. Will this still be okay if I have the tranny attached when I put in th engine?

Re: Installing Engine, where do you bolt to?

it will be fine, just make sure you use the longest bolt possible. The more threads in the head makes it stronger.

Also, if you use the accessory holes, it puts more stress in the bolt then the threads in the head
