Installing 2 piece rear main seal

Well i need to know how exactly to put this 2 piece rear main seal in because i have heard two things its to offset the seal and put blue rtv on the end of the seal where the 2 pieces meet or to just put them in no offset flat to the block and flat to the cap and put rtv on the block across the tip of both sides of the bott rear main seal attatched to the block and put the cap on and torque to spec. Which do i do or is there a different way to do it?
