So my rings are filed and ready to put on the pistons, then pistons into the bores.
Question: When clocking the ring gaps on the pistons, if I were to look at the left & right banks (say cylinder #1 and #2) do both pistons have their top compression ring gap in the same position, say 3 o'clock and the 2nd comp ring at say 9 o'clock. Should I position all pistons with this scheme
OR
Would #1 piston have top comp ring at 9 o'clock and 2nd comp ring ring at 3 o'clock and #2 piston have top comp ring at 3 o'clock and 2nd comp ring at 9 o'clock. (Essentially opposite among left and right bank pistons.)
i have always put them 180 degrees from one another . i have done this on auto engines , motorcycles , and acft. engines . has always worked for me . good luck .
