Re: Fuel Pump Failure??

does it start? what are your symptoms, if any? i replaced my fuel pump recently and the problems i had before were bad. it took a while to crank her up. when the engine started, it began to spudder and the tach needle was moving eratically, by moving up and down about 1,000 rpms. when i stepped on it it moved EXTREMELY slow. later on i fugured out when i removed the gas tank and took apart the fuel pump, it wasn't the pump, it was the rubber hose. the hose was extremely deteriorated, it was spongy and had holes everyhwere. even though the pump was doing its job, the bad hose that the gas had to go thru was seeping out starving the engine causing it to spuder and have problems cranking. i ended up replacing the filter, hose and pump just because i was in there. but if the actual pump gave out, it will not start. even if you did.. it wouldnt last long before it dies.
