Please Help! Big Fuel Problem

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what is going on with my car. I have an 89 Firebird Formula 350. It has 60,500 original miles and other than the intake manifold, the motor has never been apart. It ran great and had tons of power until a few weeks ago. I had driven about 30 miles and then parked it for a few hours. When I went to go home (3 miles) it idled rough and when I went to accelerate, blue smoke poured out of the back. The car had no power and it ran very badly all the way home. It reeked of fuel and blue smoke came out everytime I hit the gas. In the last few years I have replaced the fuel pump, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition module, and O2 sensor. During the drive, the car never got above 170 degress, had plenty of oil pressure and the check engine light never came on.

So far I have checked all the plugs and they were fine. I looked over everything and there are no stray wires touching anything. All the injectors are registering between 14.8 and 15.3 ohlms. When I hooked the fuel pressure gauge up to the schrader valve it registered 41 psi with the vaccuum line on the regulator and 46 without. It has always been set to 49 psi so I don't know why it is lower. Tonight when I went out and was checking it out, it was putting so much fuel in the motor, a little gas was leaking out one of the seams in the exhaust. (my system is clamped together). Please help. Any ideas as to what is wrong or where to start would be a big help. thank you!

Re: Please Help! Big Fuel Problem

if the ECT sensor is bad then it will dump all sorts of fuel into the chamber, but it would also turn the check engine light on, is the check engine bulb burnt out?

The check engine light works. I am not familiar with the ECT sensor. I will look it up.

Ahhh Coolent Temp Sensor. Did not think that would affect fuel but...

Please keep ideas coming! My car has collected way too much dust over the last few weeks. Thanks.

Re: Please Help! Big Fuel Problem

you've got a doozie on your hands, but my instructor told me that when the ECT is bad or not hooked up, the computer will read that the car is like -30 degrees and will dump fuel in like crazy.

Interesting idea. I hate the way they designed that sensor. The little clip is always falling off. The temp gauge works and there are no lights on in the dash. Do you think the sensor could still be bad? Thanks for your input.
