305 tpi not running 100%
hi this is first time posting. ive searched and cant find my exact problem. i have 86 iroc 305 tpi. ok here goes cold start idles at 7-800 and sputters when in drive after warm up idles perfect but runs rich i can smell the emission. now if i shut off car and start up idles goes up to 1500 and very slowly creeps down to 1100 and will stay there no matter how long it idles. only goes down until 5 mins or so of driving. and also still after warm up runs rich. oh ya and when warm it will jolt the car bad when i put in gear. i have a snapon comp for obd 1 to make this easier. also why would fan request be on constant no matter what the temp is and today i shut car off a d still heard fuel pump running? i had to turn on key and turn back off for it to go off. no ses light. also seems to have miss worse when cold and slightly whem warm. any help would be great. thx in advance.

Still run the codes even though there is no light. You may find something stored. Some thoughts that come to mind are the O2 sensor and the coolant temp sensor CTS. I am not an advocate of throwing parts at it without testing however.

Re: 305 tpi not running 100%
i checked for codes and nothing o2 is reading properly and i did think it was ect sensor but ecu is reading the temp. when i bought car guy told me ect sensor went bad so he hot wired the rad fan to a switch also installed aftermarket temp gauge and there was no thermostat in. i put thermostat i. and have no prob with running hot. my comp says the ecm is recieving the temp but even if engine is cold or hot fan request is on??? very weird.

ive figured it out 8291 is the magic number. prom 8291 is from a 91 camaro. the one in my 86 is 8291??? hmm maybe thats why my steering column is from 90's camaro(has air bag). vats
