In tank pump

If one was to do away with the computer in a 1987 Trans Am, will the intake pump still function as needed?

Re: In tank pump

Yes - but you'll need a regulator to reduce the pressure down for your new carb - need a return style regulator like a Mallory 4309.

Re: In tank pump

Removing the comp or cutting it off from the motor?

I eliminated cc stuff (carb and dist.) about a year ago. What I ended up having to is install a simple relay for the in tank pump to run when the ignition is turned on. I only had to do this because I got a little carried away when I was thinning out the wiring harness. You'll find that almost everything can go except the fan relay and the pump relay.

I plan on completely eliminating the computer.
