where does this hose go?

Hi,
Trying to figure out where this hose is supposed to connect to on my AIR diverter thing. I have the catalytic converter pipe connected, AIR pump connected, and the 2 exhaust pipes connected. Still got this hose and don't know where it goes, anyone know?

yup throttle body. but i just seen you had a aftermarket carb so it may need a different size hose.

Re: where does this hose go?

wait isn't throttle body a fuel injection thing? This car is carbureted from the factory and that's the stock computer controlled carb..

I guess I'll try capping it for now and see if i can pass emissions anyway because I cannot think of anything that this could hook up to.

Re: where does this hose go?

It's the one that goes from the output of the AIR pump to the input of the diverter valve.

Plug it back into the back of the pump.

The diverter valve itself bolts to the head behind the little tubular spacer thing on the back of the alternator, between the tube and the head. It's not supposed to waving around in the outer ozone layer like it is in that pic. Put that back where it belongs and it will make alot more sense.

Re: where does this hose go?

Ok I'll do that but I already have the AIR pump connected to the diverter valve on a different hose and I don't know where that one would go then. I'll have a picture up of what I'm talking about tomorrow. Aren't there only 4 connections going to the diverter valve?

cat converter,
the 2 exhaust pipes
and the AIR pump

but mine has 5 connections? Anyway thanks for answering this, this is the last thing keeping me back from starting it. I'll try bolting it where it belongs, hopefully I can figure this out myself.

Re: where does this hose go?

#5 should go to a little "muffler" kind of thing for when the air from the pump is being dumped instead of injected. That one could be that. It's impossible to tell for sure which is which in that pic, as blurry as it is, and with the parts out of place, and hoses and wires just randomly running everywhere instead of laying neatly in their orderly arrangement they belong in. It would REALLY be a good idea to clean it up and organize it properly.

Yeah your right, I need to have things in order first.

I'm not sure about the muffler looking thing you were talking about, I'm out of parts to connect. I should probably get one of those repair shop manuals I bet it will have all the info I'll need.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.

On my 87 tpi that is just for the silencer, so if im correct yours is missing only the silencer at the end of the hose,

Re: where does this hose go?

Hey Sofakingdom,
I was trying to get the diverter bolted into the back of the alternator spacer you were talking about. After that long bolt goes through the spacer is it supposed to go through one of these holes and the other just hangs or something?
