Need help, about to junk it lol
Hello, I'm new on here. I just bought an 87 camaro 2.8 5speed, and it will not start. I have replaced the fuel pump/filter/distibutor/wires/sparkplugs/egr/vac lines/fuel filter/ign coil/iac/iac plug/almost all gaskets/oil pressure switch/maf/ maf relay/battery/ and have reset the timing. but now it wont start at all. To give you an idea of whats happened, it use to hesitate really bad and would only run at high rpms, then it died on the freeway on the way home at 70 mph. and now it just sits in my drive way. Im seriously about to take a sledgehammer to this car..... One thing is that i have no fuel pressure when i push on the shraeder valve. the pump primes everytime i turn the key but it wont start. I have jumped it on the fuel pump relay plug and it still wouldnt start. please help... because im loosing faith in camaro's from this experience..

If you put a new fuel pump in it and the pump runs there, should be fuel at the shrader valve. If the fuel pressure regulator is open it will just free flow back to the tank without building pressure. If you can take loose the return line (smaller of the two) and verify flow (into a pan) when the pump runs, then the fuel pressure regulator is bad.

LOL! you know im having the same problem with my 350, i did a transmission swap; 700r4 to a t56 and soon as i brought the car back it didnt start anymore...every one that i talked to said something about the timing "jumping" or the engine "jumped timing" meaning the chain rotated off the sproket throwing it out of sync...im sure if you fix that problem you will fire up just fine atleast i hope cause i gotta try the samething, so i guess you can keep me posted as well so ill know if it works...lol.

p.s. i did forget to mention when i do push on the valve gas just overflows out of it instead of shooting up. didnt know if that would help anything///

Re: Need help, about to junk it lol
did you replace all that stuff chasing down this problem?
That's a lot of money to throw at a no start issue. Did you have similar fuel pressure before changing the pump?
You are correct about the squirt rather than trickle from the schrader valve.
Should be at least 1 big spray after priming. Are you sure you have spark and no fuel?
