1982 z28 55,000 miles- got this car for 2300 and how i got it was with the stock 15-7 spoke wheels with old tires
A new 355 with less than 500 miles on it (had break in oil still in it) spec as far as i know comp cams (#249 10- 604-5) duration (295 312 lift (.512 .497) comp roller tip rockers (#1412-16) and a scat crank (9-10442)
As for trans, a lets say working th200 (slush box)

Re: 82 z28 build thread here we go

now after i got it i instantly put 400 miles on it to 900 to break in the motor the rest of the way and then changed oil back to 10-30. Then it got cold and was racing the first salting

at the parts store getting stuff to change trans fluid ,the fluid in it was nasty orange so figured new fluid would help... I was wrong lol a th200 sucks so the car went back into the grage to hide from IL's dumping of salt. Also got some Riken wheels 9.5 wide front and back a nice improvement need some better tires but good for now. Had to use 2 inch wheel spacers to correct the backspacing

Re: 82 z28 build thread here we go

Spring here we come 2012 found a fiberglass hood. Someone put hoodpins in it, but id rather have 2 little holes than a huge one.

Now was bored so me and my friend corey (1986 iroc z28) decided to sand the car down and see if we could make it look any better
We have used valspar tractor enamel before and done pretty good so we went for it on the car and it turned out really good little bit of orange peel but for the paint way better than the stuff on it

Re: 82 z28 build thread here we go

Now i know are cars are plagued by old nasty lsds that let go and we get one wheel wonders or even worse a dreaded one wheel peel lol. Well thats not for me
So got a 75 dollor 98 z28 rear axle with 3.42 gears and a posi unit.
The axle had disk brakes yet nothing is left on it so that will have too come in time. The old rear drums didnt work anyway sooo im not losing out anyway.

O and i wish it came from the junkyard this clean this is after i cleaned it all up and im thinking its got a Eaton Posi unit in it

And on my way to a shop in pontiac to install the axle. what a pain in the #$* to get in and out

The axle was in and after caping off the rear brakes we went out at 12 at night and went for the first test run after Corey and I had a turn of drifting around a city block, and i drifting the walmart parking lot the swap went great LOL

Here we are today. The next on the list is to trade the 2 th400s i got for 100 bucks and get a nice 700r4 with a shift kit and get all the parts from a junkyard for the swap. Thxs to Corey (1986 iroc z28) for all the help.
So stay intuned for more and hopefully enjoy this build thread
