I'd g with some jegs or summit brand heads ($900) and a set of full roller rockers, 1.6 ratio if you have enough piston to valve clearance.

I spent a month collecting parts off ebay and spent about $2k.
Bought new forged trw .030 pistons with balanced rods for $150.
piston rings for $40
Gasket set (w/ 1003 head gaskets) and clevite p bearings for $200
Procomp aluminum heads and hardware for $650
Oil pump $22
LT4 Hotcam $230
Water pump $25
PRW 1.6 Rocker arms $100
OBX longtube headers $400
Hi Flow cat $100
Fluids $50
Misc expenses were around $30
$1,997 for the whole diy project
I would of went with a bigger cam if I could start over...

I dont have a roller motor so add 300 for a set of retro fit lifters and your ebay headers how they bolt up I like the price but they said they fit from 82 to 97 so I didn't buy them.

Re: 2k$ build what would u do?
I will have more than enough to clear them and my cr is 9.25 to 1 with 58cc heads so with any good head I will come with 64cc or bigger and I could get some used darts or afrs for that price. And I could port my heads

Re: 2k$ build what would u do?
I havent checked my youtube channel in a while. That motor was good for low 11's in better air. It went 11.4 in august air i believe which isnt good air lol.
If you wanted 11.9 all motor you will need much bigger cam, alot of stall, gear and /or port the 113's or buy aftermarket heads with a decent sized cam. Or build the 113's with hsr and milder cam and hit it with a nitrous shot
All motor is gonna be more than 2k$

Re: 2k$ build what would u do?
First - that cam is designed for 1.6 rockers (as does most of the SBC XFI line) so using the 1.5's are going to really make a small cam smaller.
Since you said #113 heads I'm assuming they're the L98 aluminum heads - good choice for a mild budget engine - especially good when you've got them and they're usable as-is. If you don't have them then the imported heads can be decent if you have a local trusty machine shop double-check them (and you'll usually gain some flow over 113 heads at the cost of port volume).
I'd step up to the 268XFI H13 camshaft, 1.6 alum. roller rockers, flat top pistons (with about a 8cc-ish reliefs), and assuming you're not decking the block or milling the heads or anything - with the L98 heads your DCR will still be well into pump gas territory and very street-able and torquey.

They fit good in my 89 camaro. You have to trim the driver's side A-arm mount to avoid vibration. Right now I am dealing with a slight vibration from a tube vibrating the transmission mount. Overall they fit nicely, and they sound amazing. Even the Mustang drivers are noticing the exhaust.

Re: 2k$ build what would u do?
Mustangs do have a nice sound. Every thing I listed above is currently on the car and driving. The 113 head's are good for a .525 lift than they need machine work. Remember I have a 9bolt rear end, so it would cost me about 600 to re do my rear end. No one seems to care about trans work lol. My goal is not to run 11.9s, its just to make it faster, reliable. But my cam kit has about 2k miles on it. The motor has a 0 deck height. The car as is good for 13.4s with DR and 1.8 RT. But im just trying to gather information on whats holding me back. So a cam and port my heads full RR. That's about 1000 right there. Remember I have the worst headers for the car. I used them off the 305 I had.

Re: 2k$ build what would u do?
I ported the hell out my plenum and the rest is stock tpi from a vette (which makes no difference) lt1 injectors air foil. I know 2k is not a lot to play with. I was looking at cheap ebay turbo kits and redo trans.

How about electric water pump, full 1.6 rockers, rebuilt trans and TC with Nitrous

for 2k I would buy a nice set of golf clubs and have money left over for the driving range, some lessons, and the 19th hole.

No matter how much money is involved you still have to pay attention to the following:
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w..._compatibility
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...pression_ratio
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Quench
Anything short of those items you going to either end up making ignition timing compromises to avoid detonation and a turd due to poor quench.Again, these engines are a systems requiring a systems approach where no one part on it's own makes that big a difference.
