center bolt to perimeter bolt adapter questions

center bolt to perimeter bolt adapter questions

hi guys, just wondering if anyone has ever done this. I've had a set of camaro chrome valve covers sitting around forever because they were perimeter bolt and mine were center, but i recently got the adapter plate in from

but i have a question. i used the hardware that came with the adapter and got it installed in there, but what do i use to fasten the valve cover to the adapter... it appears neither the valve cover or the valve cover adapter came with hardware to attach the two.. i was thinking just a set screw with a nut on top? should i put some permatex under the nut to make a perfect seal?

any suggestions would be awesome!

Moroso and others sell a set of perimeter bolt-style valve cover studs. I LOVE using valve cover studs. No more fighting to get the bolts to line up through the holes or cross-threading and stripping the threads out.

You actually need nothing special as far as a nut to tighten the cover down on them. Originally I used nylock nuts which definitely will NEVER back off, but as crud and some surface rust accumulate above the nut sometimes when you take them off the stud comes out instead of the nut unscrewing off the threads. So I switched to regular hardware store nuts (stainless steel) and it makes for the easiest valve cover R&R ever.
