Question About Converting To Digital Dash....

Hey Guys, I have a 1989 GTA. I am thinking about coverting the regular guage cluster to the Digital cluster that came on the 1987 GTA's & the 88's. I am not worried about how reliable it will be since I am going to keep the old guage cluster. The question is, is this a direct converion? Does everything from the old cluster just plug in? The speedo, oil guage, temp, Rpm, etc. Also the digital dash cluster has an information center right above where the trunk release button and the defrost button is. Where would the plug be on my car to hook to that?? Would it be laying back there somewhere? I just basically want to know what is involved with doing this. I don't want to spend bucks on the digital cluster and run into problems or not have it all function. THANKS!
Mike

No part of it is just a bolt-in or plug-in install. You need all of the associated controllers, a whole new dash wiring harness, the entire dash (not just the gauge cluster) and all of the sensors that go under the hood that report to the information center.

Thanks 85 IROC. I figured it would be a little complicated. I am not going to do that now. I figured if it was pretty basic I would do it. Thanks for the info!

I have the digital gauges in my car, and I personaly would rather have no digital gauges. they are slower reacting and hard to see and different angles and or lighting conditions. if I were you I'm maybe just get all new gauges and not go with digital ones. just my 2 cents worth though.
