Rear mount battery questions
I'm going to mount the battery in the rear, either in the well or in the storage area on the drivers side. Already got an Optima and I'm not looking to be NHRA legal.
What is the best way to run the wire back up front? Would it be alright to run the cable along the inside of the car and up through the firewall to the engine compartment or run it underneath along the framerail? The interior is already stipped out and if I'm gonna run it inside now would be the time to do it.

First of all to be NHRA legal, even Optima battery still needs to be in a sealed and vented box or behind a sealed firewall.
You can run the wires up inside the car. It's just fuel lines that can't be inside the drivers compartment.
Also to be NHRA legal you need to install a rear exterior master switch that will kill the engine and all electrical devices in the car when switched off.
Full rules explaining about rear mounted batteries can be found in the archives or just buy a rulebook.

Sorry. I misread that. Why ask about the cables then? Run them whatever way works best.

I ran mine on the inside of the car. I didn't have anything to use to mount it underneath and to me, it looked like it might get too close to the header collectors if I tried to wire it to the starter.
I went from the inside to the outside using the hole above the ECM bulkhead connector and followed the Engine Harness up to the engine bay and to the front of the car, then I used a big junction block to wire the battery wire to the stock starter wire and covered it in electrical tape.

I've done both. First, my battery is mounted on the driver side of my convt. I wanted to keep my spare tire. I ran them under the car, over the rear wheel axle between the inner fenderwell and frame, along the inside of the convt reinforement frame and then to the starter. It came really close to the y-pipe were it bends by the passenger side front tire. I since have ran it inside the car, along the passenger side rocker panel and thru the floor board into the engine bay. I like this way better, not as much chance of damage to the cables.

Thanks for the input guys, I was just looking to avoid any hazardous blunders, it's always the little things that you never think about that kill you
