Won't start.
Won't start.
Just replaced the carb. and put in a non cc distrubutor and won't start. I got #1 tdc dropped in the dis. still nothing. Checked to see if it was getting spark and it is. My cc one has 2 wire plug which mathces to the non cc that plugs into the coil. the cc also has a 4 wire plug that the non cc does not have. Do I have to slice into the 4 wire plug and hook it somewhere on the non cc? Thanks Petrella.

Petrella,
Are you still using the ECM? It expects to see some reference pulses from the distributor before it will enable soem functions, but if you are getting spark, aall you need after that is fuel, compression, and the correct timing.
The ECM connections are like this:

Vader,
I'm still kinda confused, am I going to have to cut into the 4 plug coming out of the wiring harness and tap it into the plug going out of the dis.? I am new at this, can you explain in detail please. Thanks again Petrella

Vader,
I don't even no what the ecm is or used for so I can't really answer that question. Sorry like I said I'm new at this. All I can tell you is when I put the non cc dis in and hook everything up I have a 4 plug wire left over that comes out of the harness.
Petrella.

Petrella,
For your installation, you'll need to make sure you have the HEI module connected correctly. Your older style didtributor should have a module with only four wire connections. The last connection is the ground, of course, and the ground is accomplished through the mounting screws.
The four terminals should be marked 'B', 'C', 'W', $ 'G'. the 'B' terminal should have a 12VDC positive supply whenever the ignition is ON. The 'C' terminal connects to the positive end of the ignition coil primary. The 'W' and 'G' terminals connect to the pickup coil in the base of the distributor, and are keyed by the size terminals used. If all that is correct, the coil should provide spark.

If you changed the carburetor and the distributor, and you're getting spark, would that sort of limit the problem to the carb? Maybe it's not set right or not supplying fuel. You sure the timing's not too far off to get the car running? ... Just some ideas sorry if they're off...
