Yeah, it's MAF and the 91 is SD.

the 302's in the trucks went to MAF in 96.. correct? i was wondering if the 5.8's were the same.

i actually liked the MAF's better. maybe the SD's were a touch more responsive bone stock but they HATE mods.

302s got MAF in 1994 and MAF responds way better. Ironically, I like the 91 with a 302 way better and much faster. But the 91 is not stock and with full exhaust, an removed S.M.O.G gets 14/18 MPG same as the 1996.

my brother had an 86 302. he put headers and full duals on it, no cats. HUGE response. felt like it added 50 hp. then i put a 204-214 @ .050 cam in it AnD iT sUrGed LiKe CrAzY.

I'll have to say, headers with x-piped duals was my best investment. Replacing passenger rear quarter now, and pulling motor for a stock rebuild. Heads are the big bottle neck on these things, I'm happy with stock cams. You have any pics of bro's FSB?

no i don't... this would have been at least 10 years ago. i learned alot aboot fords working on that old ford SD 302. i'll have to check my friends you tube to see if he has videos of it

This chevy has 132xxx miles on it and the engine still purrs like a kitten. Many camaros on this site have WELL over 100xxx miles on the clock and have had no major malfunctions. Plus the chevy small block v8 is one of the easiest engine to work on.

these cars are what saved Chrysler from going under. theres a lot of info out there on them if you really wanted to read it. they werent designed to do what they do, they were put in to pull Chryco out of the hole. they also got good gas mileage compared to the V8's. they were built with no real testing and it saved them from going under. they are cheap to mod and the R/T;s are factory forged pistons, rods, and crank. slap a holset on and 600 WHP isnt hard to get. even the 2.2 8V's are pushing over 500 HP, its just easier on a 16V

word. my ws6 has 20,000 miles on it and the only trouble i've had is a burnt clutch.

What does that have to do with what I said? If you want I can go find a video with a turbo dodge or maybe just a Honda doing the same thing. When you start doing stuff to your car you got to do it right. This guy didn't look like he was all there anyway with the way he set up that car.

When I sold my 87 GN back in '92 when our daughter was born, we bought a 92 Spirit R/T as a family car

When it was still bone stock, I took it to Capitol in 93 and clicked off a 14.4@100 on a crappy 2.4 short time. It was the only time it was ever at the track. After turning up the boost, it was a lot quicker. But I never hit the track to see what it would do. Just the occasional street run in's with 5.0 and "new" 4th gens. It held its own against most of them. I ran a ZR1 on I-95 in VA one day, got slaughtered but wanted to see what it would top out at...buried the 150mph speedo! Stock they were supposed to top out at 141mph, so the more boost was definitely making more. It handled well with the suspension it had and stopped as good as my 89 TTA or 96 WS6 do to the 11" brakes on all corners. Truly a sleeper in every regard.

I sold it in 2000 when our son was born. Still kind of miss it...

Thanks. I took care of it. She was a california car (Actually bought it in cali). I bought it in 2006, and the woman who I bought it from bought it in 1986, It was a 1985. I was the third owner, the first only had it for a couple months. I sold it because I wanted something RWD and the money got sucked away. Took me nearly 2 years to pick up the camaro afterwards. I recently saw it on CL for $1000 bucks, The kid blew 5th gear, blew the turbo, popped the head gasket and took it apart and was selling it basket cased. If I had a place to put it at the time I'd have bought it back..

I also found this and posted it because I thought it was amusing... You'll laugh when you see it...

Wow lol. I never would have thought this thread would have done this. Personally I love the tta cars. Im on this site because I owned a camaro and every once in a blue moon i visit. I had a camaro. I dumped money in it. Got nowhere. I can actually do things to the Omni and it goes faster. Amazing. I have a soft spot for third gens still. If I owned another it would be a hard top 91-92 z28. Dollar for dollar the turbo dodge is cheaper to mod. Mileage. I had 198,xxx miles on my stock engine before I took it out. Ran great at 24psi. To each their own on cars. I still like alot of chevy stuff. I hate alot of dodge stuff. I'm not a fan boy. The lotus designed head of the IROC r/t had it's problems. The 8 valve cars like to blow head gaskets. But it's cheap to fix. EVERY type of car has its problems. Cant we all just agree that beating mustangs is very rewarding to making yourself feel better about your own pile?
