Finally raced the "Saleen" in town

Ok, I have seen this "saleen" in town several times. I was behind it in my work truck one time and it sounded pretty nice. then I see that it says saleen on the side. I told my buddy with the 98 Z28 to be looking for it cause it would be a better race for him.
Anyways.
I am going to my moms in my 89 GTA and I see him at the light. So of course I switch lanes and pull up nex to him. I look over and he does not look at me. I edge up and give it a nice 2k rev. That got his attention. He revs it back and we wait for the light. Light turn green and we go. Just like any other car I rape him off the line. I hit 40mph and can already see him in my rear view mirror. I get up to about 90(countryish road, no other cars). I am about 3.5-4 cars up on him. I hit the lights and pull over to see if he will do the same. He pulls over and asked if I was sprayin I told him no and he did not believe me. I showed him my engine and he could not believe it. I asked what he had done and he said that he put an exhaust but the owner before him put all the "saleen" stuff on it. He thought his car was fast but he told me to give him a couple of months and we will run again.

had a guy around where I work have a 90-92 "fake" saleen
it was a nice looking car, cowl hood, purple paint, rims, exaust.
but it was fake, didn't know it was till I saw a special on the history channel or something, about how ALL saleens have a large production number "decal" right under the driver side headlight, can't miss it. the next day I called him on it and he looked at me sheeplessly and said the previous owner rebadged it as a saleen, told a friend and he ragged on him a few days later. low and behold about a month later ALL saleen badges were gone!!!!

Sounds nice, and here is a perfect case of someone adding a body kit and wrong badges to a slower car! Plus by the sound of it he doesn't have a very fast GT, if you are trapping 96, he should have walked you anyway. Nice kill.

It was like a 95-96 GT. And as we all know those are one of the slowest "sport cars". It was fun to put him in his place.

Great, pat yourself on the back for beating a 220rwhp GT with a body kit.

Maybe you should be happy that a punk with a slow car that thinks his car is fast got smoked. I guess you hate beating cars that are slower than you.
Go back to slowrustangs.com with that attitude.

How was he a punk? And I'm sure you didn't beat him by much unless he doesn't know how to drive or else his car is an automatic.

Edit: from looking at your mph in your sig to what you said happened (you beat him by 5 car lengths). Either 3 things happened...He couldn't drive, he gave up, or you are lying.

well you can think what you want about your slow rustang fetish. I have drivin a 95 gt and it is nowhere close to my car. My wifes old 96 jetta was faster than those. If you are going to call me a liar, come over here and do it. If you dont like my story, go away.
Everyone else, thanks for the compliments.

I will say nice kill, but a 95 GT will absolutely KILL a 96 Jetta (hell, my Jeep smokes those things, and my friend has exhaust and CAI!). The 94-98 GTs were not very fast compared to the foxs or the 99-03 ones, but were easily 14 second cars (especially the 94-95s). The 94-95s could also be modded just like any Fox body.

I agree that you beat him, with no problem, and i also agree that he deserved it, to be racing around all bad-*** in his "saleen" . It is kids like him who make us look bad, Monkie. See! So we should not stick up for the 200 hp, but hope he gets beat, so maybe he will mod and get some respectable times!

i can run right by my friends 2001 Faleen GT(auto-3.23). were side by side up till 100. the 94-95 GT stock weren't all that great. that is the consensus. watch out when there modded though. the newer 2002-03 gt's are quick

I am aware that SOME rustangs are not slow. But I dont need to spend 30k for a boosted cobra to have a fast car. If you think that I have a slow car, why do you defend 95 GTs? Cool guy huh

Sadly...I agree. A N/A GT Saleen is domestic ****. It looks fast and pumps out a ungodly amount of power (220rwhpish). But if I were you guys I wouldn't be putting him down that much. Most third gens would be doing well to break 230rwhp.

Oh and if you want to say MY car looks like ****... post a picture of your car then I will post a picture of mine and we can put up a poll so people can decide on which one looks better.

Ya, lets put up a poll on THIRDGEN.ORG to see if people like a 89GTA or a 99 Cobra

Why do you need to spend 53k for a N/A Corvette that cant beat a 30k Cobra with bolt ons? And I wasn't aware of the year of the Saleen you beat. I figured it was a newer one. Yes 94-95 GTs were slow.

I couldn't prove my time? WTF how can you PROVE a time unless you have a video camera or the person was there? Sorry, I'm not gonna go buy a video camera for some red necks on Thirdgen.org because they don't believe that my car is fast. If you don't think it is you can either call MV Performance (my tuners) http://www.mvperformance.com/ or you can bring your broke *** piece out and run me for money. And yes, my dad's car is listed in my sig. Best advice I can give you is to get over it.

Actually mine is a 20k car. And it will take you alittle more than $1,500 to run with me. Well, let me reword that... Run with me multiple times and not have your engine in pieces. And who said I'm done moding? LMAO I haven't even gone forged internals yet.

So did you come to thirdgen.org just to try and get people hate rustangs even more? You will usually find that most people on here are all about muscle. Then you come along and try to criticise someone about a race.

Oh man, im stupid. After reading this story, i did some deep research on mustangs. U know this whole time i thought Mustangs had 260hp from 1994! Now i know why everyone says 94-98 Mustangs are the slowest, they had like 215-225HP, thats nothin we cant handle. This is new to me and very reassuring. And i thought 260HP was that rating that was the "slow" version, and that the new Stangs had more HP. Sheeze, what the hell is 260HP for then, nothing to worry about there.

Duh you take your time slip and scan it and post it. Or if you have a camera (or if you have any friends with cams) you get someone to tape you making a run. Its not really that hard Monkie. Well maybe it would be hard for you. Maybe you could pay some camera crew to go record you run and scan your timeslips so when you go on messageboards with your BS you can prove everyone wrong. The bottom line is this. Nobody cares what you think. You come on here trying to belittle people over nothing. You have no credibilty here. Go away. Nobody cares if your car is fast. Nobody cares how it looks either. We're here talking about 89blackGTA racing some Mustang GT and you're over there talking about how great Mustangs are and how weak 3rd gens are. Nobody wants to hear it Monkie.

And if I ever get a chance to ship my 'broke *** piece' to the mianland I'll be sure to hit you up for a race. I'll race you for $500 cash. We'll see what my sub 10k car ($6500 into it right now including car ... blown 91z28) can do against your 20k car or you can even bring out your dads 30k car and pretend its yours for a day. I dont care. I'm getting my shortblock rebuilt next month, faster than your dad can pay to have yours redone so nani nani boo boo.

Good kill.

As far as the mustangs go, they sn95 ones aren't all that fast.
The first of the 4.6's were pathetically slow. most of the manual ones round here struggled to get into the 14's unmodded.
The 99's and 2001's weren't all that bad, they'd run like 14.6-9 for the most part with the manuals, the better driver's could eek into the low 14's

I've seen some very quick pre irs 4cammers down the track into themid 13's in utterly stock form.. which really impressed me.

then came along the 390hp blown 2003's which i've yet to be impressed with, i've seen two of them one in the 13.0-2 range and the other one flirting in the 12.8-13.0 range. That's pretty damn unimpressive in my book.
i'm sure they'll learn how to drive em, but the first batch ..unimpressive at best.

yet another bonus of living within earshot of a dragstrip you get to see all the goodies run

if it can't blow the doors off my slow stock 14.6 88 305 tpi formula.. it aint fast.

No ****, if I scanned the time slip people would say "oh well you can find time slips anywhere."

And hell I would ****ing LOVE to race your car. And take your damn $500 too. And believe me, I would. And lets see some pictures of your car. I think you're full of **** with what you got done. Lets see some pics, I put mine up for the non believers. Oh and **** face, before you go saying something, actually I said the GT mustangs after 93 were SLOW. Might want to hit middle school back up. You seem to need it.

i'm sure they'll learn how to drive em, but the first batch ..unimpressive at best.
They weigh in at 3800lbs and put out about 340rwhp stock. How is a 12.8 with that to work with unimpressive? And before some idiots goes off with the "well hell 340rwhp for a SCed V8 is sad" there is something called emissions. With filter and catback my dad's 03 was making 370rwhp. Not all that unimpressive anymore.

All you do is flame monkie, didn't your first banning teach you anything? People still don't believe you even own your own car cause you have never given us any proof. It's always "I own this and this and this and I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE IT but yea I own all this stuff and I'm only 15 and I run 8s with $12 invested for new bubble gum wrappers." Why don't you just stfu and go back to stangnet? No one wants you here, sister.

Thats my point. Posting pictures of my time slip would prove nothing. Here, this idiot doesn't even believe I own my car. LMAO AFTER I posted my hand flipping the camera off with the correct time on my watch with my car and supercharger in the background. I mean hell, how much more proof would you like *** cream?

WOW!!!

This is amazing. I almost lost track of ehat you are all fighting about!

Anyway, Monkie if you really want to see which car they like better, put it up. I would even enter, because I would be confident my body-kit less LX would score higher! And I know the GTA would get almost all the votes!

As far as power, you are right you have more, but then again none of us have spent half of the $$ you have, including me and my two vehicles! I could have gotten a 99 Cobra or an LS1, but I chose to get something that I could do REAL mods to, like heads, cam and intake to get results!

I am letting the whole timeslip thing go so lets everyone else do the same!

Yea, that proved everything to everyone, I'm sure. You have 1 picture of an engine bay with someones hand in it, wow, that convinces us all! Like I said, go to stangnet and brag about your supposed 13 second timeslips and impress all the kiddies there, you just come here to flame, so go away, sister.

Ok, well since Monkie doubts me I went out and took some pics of my 91. I need to get the rest of these hosted so I can show all the pics I took. For now I will attach two pics, the first one just for Monkie.

Merry Christmas Monkie

holy crapola that is one beautiful camaro. those are ROH synpers right? what size?

i was gonna say the moderators should block this post, but then i woulda missed that pic.

just to add my 2cents, monkie is a moron and his posts have no relevence on a thirdgen camaro website. although its fun reading the arguments these folks write about him,

"arguing on the internet is like the special olympics, you may win, but in the end youre still a retard"

nice car!

Nice pictures. And nice looking camaro. Only thing I don't like about it (everyone does it though) is the 5" tach on the dash. But by the time you get to the mainland I will be either turbo or pushing 15psi and around 600rwhp with ET slick and 31 spline diff. Bring your $500

Actually I might buy this guys 90 LX coupe from him and make it into a drag strip project car since they are so light. It would be a turbo project with a viper T56 probably. But this is summer time I'm talking about if my jobs hold up.
