Got a new beater, LS1
Finally got around to buying myself a decent beater. It's a 98 TA, black, chrome wheels, T-tops, M6, leather interior, only 25k miles. For only $13k, I couldn't refuse it. It was on ebay= http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...875284706&rd=1
I can't wait. I've wanted an LS1 car since they came out. I don't plan on selling the IROC, but I'm going to sell my 92 Firebird. The thing is, I don't think I'll be able to keep from modding the LS1.
What I'm really wondering is: Should I use the IROC for my beater and get wild with the LS1, or use the LS1 for the beater?

looks like you did what you needed to do with the IROC
damm it's running 12s
what I would do is drive the LS1 every day park the IROC.
when it comes time to mod the LS1, then it gets parked for a week or two while you work on it and you drive the IROC around, you can't take a beast like that IROC and demote it to a daily.
see what I mean, mod the LS1 but only drive the ROC when the LS1 goes down.
anyway, damm good looking car, and a good price too!!!
biker
good luck

That's a sweet T/A....
But if it were me, I'd still go all out on the IROC. I'm still more impressed with an 11 sec N/A IROC (or 3rd gen for that matter) than an 11 sec N/A LS1 4th gen. Since you have an M6, maybe you could upgrade the T/A's suspension and take up some road racing.
Yeah....the IROC for the drags, and the T/A for road racing/autocrossing. That's what I would do

The thing about the ROC is, I'm almost "done" with it. Meaning, I have a combo that I chose and I'm sticking with it. I love the combo and the fact that it DOES run SO WELL on the street makes it tempting to use as a beater. It's about at that point where, after I add the bottle, anything more serious starts getting VERY costly. I know the LS1 has GREAT potential to run 11's/10's NA and still be streetable. After a year or so, maybe I should go wild on the TA and use the ROC as the beater. Man, too many decisions, too little money to mod both cars.

Yes, thats the way to go. Heads, cam, exhaust, LS1, DROOL. Just don't get it around me, I heard water spots are hell on a black car and I wouldn't want to drool on it.
Oh and Auburn POSI is a piece of ****. Get you an Eaton.

Nice choice on the car. I got an LS1 not long ago too.
What you've done with your IROC is almost exactly what I plan to do with mine....if I can ever get some money. I plan to mod my LS1 too of course as it's my everyday driver. The ROC is my dad's pretty much, but he's up for anything I want to do to it also.

Ya'know that black TA there just SCREAMS for a red scanner up front. ^_^
Nice buy man. I'd love to get a 4th gen TA, but most of them are a TAD too much for me. Guess my GTA will suffice.

Sharp looking car there. I guarantee you'll enjoy it, and I guarantee you'll be modding it soon also

I thought, why spend $12-13k on a 50k mile SUV when I can have this 25k mile TA for the same price?
