raced an 05 v6 stang
well tonite me and my girlfriend were cruising around when i see a new style stang fly by me. I quickly catch up and ask him what he has done he says just exhaust and intake, sounded reallll nice. So i ask him if he wants to go, he agrees. We go 3 honks and were off, i instantly pulled about a half car on him and it stayed that way. I was really happy considering i have just an l03. My mods are hedman headers, hooker exhaust, 1.6 rockers, and an open element, my best run was a 15.3 at 92. Judging by my mph i thank god i went from a roll. Any one know what tho's things run???

Nice win! i heard those v6 mustangs weren't all that bad speed wise but i don't think my l03 would beat one lol.

I remember my 91' bird with an LO3, it only had a k&N air filter and a Edelbrock 3" cat-back, thing always surprised me, lol. Mine was a 5 spd too, which made it pretty fun to drive, lotta pep for what they are.

I know that... but still it shows fords attempt at an economy sports car was crap, a V6 Camaro/Firebird w/ 3.4/3.8 would walk one so easily and still get better gas mileage.

The 4.6-liter all-aluminum V-8 has three-valve heads and cranks out 300 horsepower, while the new SOHC V-6 engine generates 202 horsepower from 4.0 liters
from stangnet.com
come on guys did you seriously think they would make the new mustang with as much horsepower as the 04?
----------
soooo what about that bet

Re: raced an 05 v6 stang
I however agree that it would be no match for an 05 GT. The two cars would probably run close to a second apart in the 1/4. A 3.8L 4th gen will need some serious mods to keep up with that. I have a 4th gen v6 firebird as a daily driver, and it doesn't come close to my 3rd gen formula, which I am sure is slower than an 05 GT at its present state.

Regardless think about it this way, maybe the newer one was set up wrong or maybe puts less to the ground, hp vs. is not all you think about, theres A LOT more to the equation.

my buddy has a 07 v6 stang auto and he ran a 9.53 in the 1/8 mile stock which equals out to be a 14.8 in the 1/4 mile so the are not that slow stock.

Re: raced an 05 v6 stang
a 4.0 stang will do low to mid 15s showroom stock, if its got a CAI/exhaust he SHOULD have a tuner (you need to tune them for everything) to go with it, which should get it into the 14s
you beat the driver, but good kill

Re: raced an 05 v6 stang
I used to have a 1997 V6 Camaro turning 13.8 second quarter miles, so I know that beating an 05 GT can be done with a V6. Those 3.8's are pretty stout, and if you have the 5-speed coupe with Y87 RPO code, they came with posi.
The 1994-1998 V6 stangs came with 145-150HP 3.8L V6s.
The 1999-2004 V6 stangs came with 193hp 3.8L V6s.
The 2005+ V6 Stangs came with 210HP 4.0L V6s.
