import guys are so clueless

So I finally got the camaro out or the garage to get ready for summer...typicall stuff...change oils, clean...check everything..and of course the slow test drive to the gas station...some new fuel...etc...so while at the gas station a little import (don't even know what the heck it was there was so much ground effect crap on it)..but anyways..he was looking at my car while I was fueling....Then the question came up....'do you wanna race'...I told him not really cause it's first drive of summer and car was not ready....then of course he started talking about how I was scared and how he kills v8s and has made a name for himself, and So I said fine...meet me up the street in 10 mins.....I drove back home, got in my '97 dodge ram 5.9ltr pickup (stock) and drove to meet him....needless to say he was pretty insulted that I brought my truck to race him....but I turned the tables and told him he was scared...Well we ran each other.....it was a sad state of affairs...I lost by about 2 ft...he was braggin' after we were done..I said 'ya know my truck runs mid 17's'..'keep talking and I'll show you what a 12 second car actually looks like'.....so that was my start of this years street racing...just thought I'd throw my story out hopefully someone gets a kick out of it

That is great.. Now he will brag to his idiot friends on how he added a truck to his list of kills. Bet he don't have the nuts to run against your camaro though. I have very little respect for ricers as most of them think just because they watched Fast & Furious or Toyoko Drift and add a ground effects and a wing their cars are fast. Oh Don't forget about all the stickers on the side .. That adds major HP!!

Very few import guys are actually knowledgeable. If i beat a truck by 3 feet i would defiantly hold my head in shame. I know there are some fast trucks but coming that close to a stock one, man i wouldnt even tell my friends about that. On a side note, i saw fast and the furious at midnight the night it came out and man me and my friends got a chuckle at watching hondas do burnouts in the parking lot. Its like every one of them had the need for speed after seeing that lol. I didnt dare move my car out of its spot till all the rice left for fear of being hit. I have never heard so many Honda's hit VTEC in my life lol.

that's funny we have that same saying here in idaho about the stickers....the more sticker...the faster they go......Yeah..he'll go brag to his friends..but I'll see him or more like him later in the car.....oh...my favorite...when you taking off from a street light normal or just barley getting on it and the idiot next to ya thinks your racing him!! LOL What would we laugh about without imports.

Re: import guys are so clueless

It's truely funny when you listen to one of them hoover vacuum cleaners with the less than ideal tin leach field exhaust with a (CHROME) Exhaust tip and then you hear a true muscle car come in.. I laugh at 98% of them as they try to line up next to me and you hear the massive rev of their engine to about 5000 rpm and that almighty pop-off valve kicking in.. I am really shacking in my boots at this point as I roll up the window.

Best run I have had was last year.

A turbo neon tried to run me, As we got to the light, He rev'ed his mighty 2.0 and I just let mine rumble.. OH! I think at idle mine is louder than his is at 6000rpm, which is very intimidating.. The light turns green, Well this dork does a fantastic front wheel burn-out and tears off jumping out almost 25 cars ahead of me and got pulled by the local PO-PO who was sitting about 1/2 block up the street. It took him all the courage to ask me why I didn't get a ticket. I told him I shut off my car when the light turned green. He didn't realize I just came from the opposite direction less than 10 minutes earlier and I knew the PO-PO was sitting there.

Re: import guys are so clueless

That's awesome.....watching them getting stoped is almost as good as beating them down the street......got one more funny story for ya....last year I used to drive a flatbed wrecker....Well I was lucky enough to get to drive the new truck...a brand new duramax c5500 flatbed w/ a 5 speed auto allison in it..it had the bigger duramax diesel..not the 6.6 but like a 8.8.....anyways the thing I swear is faster than my pickup...maybe even hit a 16 second 1/4 mi with a tailwind....I used to go race imports all the time in that thing.....It's funny beating a 2500lb little car with a 12,000lb truck.
but back to real racing......I can't wait till the rain stops and the Camaro comes out to tear up the streets.....

Re: import guys are so clueless

it's just raining here....60 degrees, 72 yesterday...but the drag strip is open...as soon as rain stops..I am crazy excited to drive my car around.......and man I wish I had a supercharger on mine....it's in the plans for future...Am going to do a tko 5 speed swap this coming winter and then next year maybe a supercharger....but I am not running a real good piston...not forged anyway...so maybe I can get away with 6-9 lbs of boost safely.....

Yup just had it. Stopped this morning, I live in Cleveland Ohio. It came from Colorado...wtf. Haha.

P.S. Its sad hearing an import rip down your street only to notice he wasn't going up the street but a few houses down.

i had a 03 E350 16 bobtail truck for a while, all it had was the banks ram air and a glass pack (had a superchip programer but with something that heavy you got to run it on level 1, i had it mainly to get rid of the governer)....i used to beat some rice burners with it to.

beat my friends geo in a international 4900 26 bobtail w/ a eaton 9 speed

holy crap dude i saw it at 11 the day it came out, and i was with my gf. anyway my car was one day from being done (needed insurance) and when we got out of the movie i had to painfully listen to at least 12 ricers or idiots while we got in the escape (not mine), but damn it was hilarious i didnt hear anything beyond a painful fart from their exhaust and tires squeaking, no one can burnout around here, i cant wait to see my first one this year. just my 2 cents though. it was hilarious but pissed me off i couldnt show em up but oh well. soon enough

Re: import guys are so clueless

I'm heading to the drag strip this saturday for my first race this year......At our track we have a race that is pretty much a fun street race and it's heads up...but they do divide the cars into classes by speed....When you go through the tech line the inspector will ask you what 1/4 mile time do you estimate your car will run....I'm in the 11-12.99 class....and first race down the track just about every import thinks they are in that same class....so they tell the tech guy that they run 12's or 11's and run the first race down the track with the cars that actually go 11-12's....it's funny to watch them get kicked out of that class....i would be pretty embarresed if I was in that class and got bumped down to like the 15.99 and slower class......which most of them do, cause they aren't fast....and what is even better is the announcer (a muscle car guy) always says something over the PA system about it...saying stuff like "car 221, if your car cannot run in the class you are assigned to....you need to move to a slower class".....I love getting out there and watching them make a fool of themselves. What's great also is the imports in the burnout box....street tread front wheel drive in the water box is a waste of time.....See the slow 15.99 and slower class runs...then after them is the 10.99 and faster class....so those guys drag water all over the track and when a real car tries to go down the track...they spin on the water the imports left on the track...and boy those guys get pissed at the imports.........I love telling stupid import stories.........

Wish I could get there to see that. The track I go to in Redding Ca. does a "street legal" race night that is all heads up style. No classes though so it's a lot of fun to walk the pits and listen to all of the trash talking. It gets even better when the guy who really does have a 12 second Civic (there are a few that show up there) thrash talks the driver a pro-street looking muscle car, only to line up and find out the hard way that the "ancient piece of crap" is really an 8 second monster. I actually got to witness the whole thing once, made my whole year! Everyone that over-heard the verbal exchange between the two enjoyed the laugh.

Re: import guys are so clueless

Sometime the v8 guys are a little too cocky too though.....I know a guy whos actually pretty cool, even though he drives an import, and he talks crap to v8 guys at the track.....little do peope know..his eclipse runs constant 8's....but breaks down a lot....he's one of a kind out here...no other imports are even close to him...but he doesn't act an import guy....and has more than $60k in his car.....if he would have put that money in a 8 cylinder...he'd be probably the fast car to beat out here.......

LMAO another internet tough guy. I love how you are trying to bully me through your keyboard. OHHHH I'm shaking "better watch who your talkin to". Wow you've been a member of this board for a whole 4 months.

What did you expect when you posted something like that. If I didn't say it someone else would have jumped on it. Relax I was just joking with you.

yeah i been here 4 months, ive been watching for about 2 years. a lot of people on this site are familiar with my name and a couple people here know me pretty well. and im not being a tough guy, im saying you shouldnt come here and start running your mouth. your the one that decided to quote my message and try to be a smart ***.

when you first come on these boards, you need to not lie and act like you know everything about everything. its people liek you that RUIN these boards. its about learning things and sharing information, not argueing and having pissing contests with everybody. im no where near a senior at this site, but i think every senior here would agree that your being a jackass and you need to stop with the lying about beating a civic for pinks and how you just happen to have your title in your glove box. people on this board want proof. not just a story.

im done argueing with you, your not worth it.

btw if you DO watch fast and furious, you do have to have a good imagination. there was a LOOOOOOOT of fake things in that movie, but i liked the idea and i loved the chevelle.

AND there is 2 third gen camaros in there! when they are in the impound lot, when vin diesel gives paul his new "10 second car" right next to him is a blue?? camaro. not sure which year or what model, it was way to fast to even see. and then when the big chase is on near the end in mexico, there is a third gen camaro chasing vin and paul. once again, it happened to quick to even see what year or model.

True about some v8 drivers getting cocky, we've got a few around my town I won't go anywhere near because they will always get us in trouble. I have found that around here the guys that have truely fast "imports" are just as cool to hang with as fellow muscle car guys, and some of the stuff they know and work with is quite interesting. There's a guy here running a '91 RX7 that was naturally asperrated (sp?) originally, but he has integrated a junkyard turbo (he says from a "car you wouldn't expect"), and it runs VERY quick and looks almost stock. There are jerks in every group, it just seems our beloved third-gens attract the "import" jerks. I gotta admit, they are good fun though.

The one in the impound lot was an IROC or it had an IROC hood. It barely showed the second one...sad face

HAHA a weak 245 HP engine in a 5,000+ lbs truck. I know all to well as I love spanking the import crowd around here. I have a 2008 Ram Quad Cab that only has the 4.7 (305 HP and a 6spd stick) and I beat most of their cars with ease.

They better hope they don't run up against my Van though. That would make them look rediculous.

Re: import guys are so clueless

i raced a yellow bug. from a stoplight, its when i had TBI 350. it was just for sh*t and giggles. the bug was driven by a teen, prolly 16-20ish, im 18 so yeah. it was a little late at night, prolly 9 or so. he drove up next to me and revved his engine, i thought about it twice (bugs are pushin somethin, theyre a prefect sleeper lol) i revved mine up to and we both watched the light cloesely. i picked the revvs up to about 1700-2000. the light went green i got a better jump than he did, he was a little slow so i had about a length. i had a LITTLE wheel spin. (i got on it kind of slow so i wouldnt spin to much) but we stayed pretty even the whole way, got up to about 50 and i shut it down (no top end speed). it all came down to reaction time as it was very close. he was catching me, but very slowely. when i shut down he just kept going. my first kill in the camaro. not much of a kill, but it was somethin lol. id say the only reason i won was because im a little better of a driver than he was, im sure he would of had me had i not got the good launch. car is so slow. eventually the 350 blew up, and i had a free 305 sittin around so i put it in there. its a carb though, and my carb has a very bad hesitation. it runs 16 with the bad hisitation. im 100% sure it would run low 15's to high 14's if i had a better carb. im redoing im suspension now, and i gotta line on a posi trac (mines an open dif) with stock gears for 100 bucks. but ill obviously put in some 3:73's.

thats my story!! unfortunately i didnt race him for pinks

Re: import guys are so clueless

Ok so after reading the stories I am reminded of two one mine and one not. First I got my thirdgen about 8 years ago and just starting using it as my daily driver (wrecked truck) any ways I pulled up to a light one night after work and a neon pulls up next to me and the guy revs his engine and I laugh and so does his girl lol. anyways we go on green and I have a rs v6 not fast but sounds way better and I have him by three lengths at 50 or 60 pull in his lane flash emergince lights to say give up then and the next light he wants to go agian but I look at his girl laugh at him and he takes off with his girl laughing lol.

now for my friends story he had a 1999 ws6 transam I mean a beautiful car silver white leather t tops ect. so his stupid a$$ was racing in the rain lost control and wrecked ito a buick dealirship. Car totaled plus 3 others and mutiple vehicles damged this is why I leave it on the track now.

Heres a story that shows just what your talking about. Today im crusin back down this road in tampa from takin my friend to buy his new car. Its a real straight road with about 3 or 4 stop lights about 1/4 mile apart. Now my car has this little problem, sometimes it likes to stall out if i let my foot off the gas completly, so i put just enough pressure to keep it at about 900rpms. Well this gives my car a real bass sound, sometimes i hold it a little higher also. Anyways im in a rush to get back for work tonight and this white car pulls up next to me. I dont even notice it untill we take off. Now im not racing by any means but this car is just stupid loud pulling next to me. Turns out its 4th gen z28, this thing is sitting squat on the ground, dual 4 inch tips through what looks like a 4 inch crossflow muffler of some kind, riced out with a huge sticker and underglows. I pull up at the next light and he leans out his window and goes dude, you just got raped you should upgrade to a nice fast car not that POS. i just shake my head and laugh.

yeah...some of the fourth gen cars I've noticed are unusually slow..i'm not talking about v6...but really slow v8s.....kinda sad....but then again there is some really quick stock fourth gens too................there is a ls1 silver ss camaro that always pulls up next to me trying to race....sprays his fake nitrous purge valve....yes i said fake (a friend of his told me about the fake kit)..and the thing must run a 15 or something cause it's awful slow....I know my car runs in the 12's, so i can run down most ls1, but i mean this car is sad...and he always wants to race...trying to intimidate me with that nitrous purge............love idiots...

[quote=91interceptorZ;4113420]...... What's great also is the imports in the burnout box....street tread front wheel drive in the water box is a waste of time.....See the slow 15.99 and slower class runs...quote]

Don't get me wrong, I know my junk is slow but dang! This really wears me out, when cars are lined up on street night/test and tune and everyone's wanting to get runs in and the kids in the imports that are running in the high 11's (1/8th mile) spend more time in the water box spinning their street tires than a top fuel dragster Oh and to top it all off, when they DO finally pull forward they drive past the light like.....OOOOOHHHH took me that long to get her stopped. Then they back up and think they're staged and the guy running the tree has to go tap on their window glass because it's their REAR wheels blocking the beam.
