I do have the 4l60e that came with my motor, but a number of people including my transmission guy, told me the 700r4 and the 4l60e will not be efficient enough to handle the great amounts of torque ?!?

tell him hes retarded and find another transmission guy. all 3 of those transmissions are dang near the same in what they can handle. and i know of an LT1 car in the 9's with a built 4l60e. on motor.

My trans guy has a 408 stroker in a 67 Chevelle, and he says he went through 2 700r4'S within a 9 month period, that is his reason why he recommends the 200r4, also he says there is far more gear adjustability with the 200r4 ?? I would prefer to use the 4l60e myself since I already have it. BTW... my engine builder , who specializes in LT1 build ups, also told me to stay away from the 700r4 in particular as he races his own cars with LT1's, but he switched to the T56-6 speed.

nah i havent had any problems with the 700 yet,if your gonna go with a 700r4 your gonna have to pull the tail shaft housing off and pull the speedo gears and replace them with the reluctor gear and vss sensor from a 4l60e,you will also need a 93 lt1 throttle bracket & throttle body or you'll have to fab something up with the tv cable,and lastly you'll have to have some transmission codes disabled in your pcm,if you got a good 4l60e i would use that if i were you ,lots easier,hope this helps.

For one 25th not trying to be a **** but CLEARLY you are defending stangs to the death, you talk about how it takes little mods to get a stang fast and now your changing your story to it takes quite a bit (that's how its coming off) make up your mind.... No but a 80 rwhp or so doesn't seem like too big of an issue.

This race does in fact prove the Mustang got beat. I never said it didn't. What I wanted to know was what mods did the Mustang have completely. It changes the dynamics of the race. If the car had stock heads, it's still a win, but an expected win. If the car had some nice ported aluminum heads, it makes his win that much more impressive.

I guess trying to explain this now is a mute point, but it's the truth.

Oh well, I keep some of the threads more interesting than just... "sweet kill man". Unless thats all you wanted to hear, 14 replys saying good kill? If thats the case, I guess I never realized that was all we were allowed to do???

25thmustang, do you really think he's still running the stock valve springs? Stock heads maybe, but if the cams big enough to be pretty noticeable at idle, and it sounds like he went through the whole motor, why would he not at least change the springs? How much lift can you run on the stock 302 heads anyway?

I would think if the guy had done mods such as that, he would have mentioned them before mentioning a coolant bypass line... Once again, we were given a mod list for a car, and using that mod list I made my comments.

I also never said the Mustang won, not sure why people keep saying that. He lost, and it is very very obvious. But going by the mod lists for his car that was posted... the win was expected!

Again nice kill, but find out if the guy had some good aftermarket heads, and it adds value to YOUR kill.

actually i talked to a couple people yesterday that know the guy in the stang and they said he baught the car like that for $6000, he didnt build the engine,and that the engine is supposedly a high end crate motor,i will find out for sure the next time i talk to him.and you keep talking about the coolant bypassed tb,once again i was just telling you what i saw and the little he actually told me,and i didnt happen to look at the heads cause i didnt really think i was gonna be interegated about it but next time i see him i will be checkin them out.

Not picking on you, but do you honestly think everyone tells the truth about their mods? I know a lot of people with slow cars that are all hush hush about their mods... it might hurt their "street cred" if people really knew what they had. In reality, they just don't want to be butt hurt because their cars are slow for the mods/money invested.

I am mostly truthful about my mods, but I don't give away every detail. My cam is a proprietary grind - you want one? I will give you the contact info and you can go buy one, I did. That is my POV on it anyhow, the same goes for my tune. It's not rocket science, but the shop did lots of research and R&D - they shouldn't have to give away their hard work for free. JMHO

He opened his hood, to let the OP see under there. You think he planned to "hide" what heads he has? Unless he went through a lot to hide it with the hood up? Almost all aftermarket head manufacturers have a logo right on the front of them, carved into the aluminum.

Maybe I am asking too much, and maybe the OP doesn't care what heads the car has. If thats the case, no worries. I personally try and find this info out when I race someone that I am interested in beating!

I guess thats your guys mentality, but then again I like beating people with more mods, and more power... Thats why I find out what the other car had done. More than once I beat the "faster" car. Why would you race a car you don't know the story on. At the end, sure you won, but you might have beat a 150 hp car... I guess you take the wins you can get, but I put more into my wins than just that, hard to explain to those who will never understand!

Not sure who is getting "butt hurt", and I could care less a Mustang lost. He did lose, I told him it was a nice win, more than once.

I'm glad my posting gives you guys something to come on here, and become united about. Makes me feel good.

I have also debated buying a thirdgen and trying to make it fast for cheap. But then I realized I have other things to spend money on, and tossed that idea. I already have a car I can mod if I want, why get another, or sell mine for something else?

If your referring to the VIDEO and RACE posted by the OP, I'm pretty sure they set this race up, and didn't just hit it from a stop light. If they raced from a stop light he probably wouldn't have known a single mod on the car. I'm referring to the set up races between two people, not a short stop light run between two random cars.

Keep trying though, I will continue to explain the flaws in your scenarios. This is fun!

Also, no thirdgen for me, I plan to buy and mod nicer, newer cars when I'm done with the fox body...
