whats going on here...
is there a major power loss i am not aware off? me and a friend are racing(for fun) from a 25 roll until a set mark and we go for about a mile until this 2 lane road turns into 1 lane whoever's ahead there wins. right off the bat he's 3 cars ahead and slowly i caught up and maybe couldve cut him off to get ahead but wasen't risking it.
his car.
92 grand prix
v6 3.1(i think?)
auto
cold air intake
THATS IT
mine.
85 maro
2.8 v6
auto
open element intake
brand new plat. plugs/ 8mm wires
no cat, flowmaster exhaust
i was running 93 that day as well if that matters(same price as reg unleaded so i thought why not)
his car is newer, smaller, lighter. but is that .3 liter REALLY making that much of a difference? or am i losing power somewhere?

in a nutshell
the 3.1 makes more power than a 2.8, he is lighter, so of course he will be faster.

I'm not sure what you are considering power adding mods to your car??? The muffler and no cat will gain a little bit, the plugs and wires mean nothing for power, and the high octane fuel probably HURT the power you might have gained from the exhaust. All in all your most likely at stock HP levels, similar to how stock his is. I wouldn't be so disheartened by the race, you did catch him and walk by him...
