Read between the lines ya newbs, I was making a point. But I'll make it easy for you. Mmadden, called my day a liar and ignorantly made a comment regarding a well known hybrids gas mileage as a sham. So I made a comment regarding the well known stereotype of Thirdgen Fbody owners and how he's fueling it.

This reminds me of my brief visit to a Prius forum. One guy was bragging about beating a Viper from 0 to 6 mph. Yes, 6, not 60. The instant torque of the electric motor gets it to walking speed pretty quick. After that, not so much....
wait until the owners have to replace that battery - it will not last forever.
i understand that used to cost over 3k and im sure they have gone up since then.
and if you really want to rag on them - make sure they know that the battery components are mined in canada and the environment around the average mine is where nasa tests off world vehicles as it is so screwed up.
then they train or truck the ore to the coast where it goes into a ship for transport to western europe. from there it is unloaded and sent east, where they have no laws against dirty smelting and poluting like crazy.
then it is shipped back to the coast where it is put on another ship and sent over to japan. japan sends it to the chicom coast where their excellent quality control is used to make the actual battery. then it is shipped to japan and unloaded where they add a few parts to be able to say made in japan.
then it is reloaded on a ship and sent to the west coast of America so yuppies can drive around and talk bad about those of us not driving them.
if you factor in all the transportation and manpower the thing is a worse polluter than we are.
Actually Uncle Tom, most of the parts on Harleys are now made in China and assembled in the US. Because HD is now on the stock market it is not American owned. Furthermore the Goldwing is made in America also. Its part are made in Japan and assembled in the US. Also, after taking the Goldwing on a 200 mile ride, you dont have to have it trailed the last 50 miles. GM is another business that is full of crap. American company????? Our Camaros are made in Canada.
*Assembled* in USA does not mean theyr'e *made* here, as assembly only accounts for ten percent of vehicle content. Where they're engineered is where the bulk of the dollars are paid. FWIW, Goldwing is approx 65% N.A. content. Harleys are over 95% North American content, far more than Goldwing, who next year will again be assembled in Japan.
Yes some H-D parts are *Chromed* in China, blame the EPA for that.
None of my three Harleys have ever been on a trailer in over 300,000 miles. In that time they've never needed a timing belt, carb sync, or water pump, or the final drive failures that modern GoldWings are known for.
Do thirdgen guys go around in the real world and make fun of Prius' owners? Or is it just on this forum?
It's not just thirdgen owners...It's everyone that has a brain and can think for themselves and are not sheepol. People that realize that buying a Prius really isn't going to do anything for the environment other than put money into Toyota's wallet. People that realize that if you bought a Prius over a cheaper economy car like a Kia Rio that the break even point is over 5 yrs and over 200,000 miles at the current fuel rates.....just on fuel cost alone not any maintence. People that doen't buy into the whole global warming Al Gore myth. People that realize that building a Prius pollutes more than building none hybrid cars. That's the people that make fun of the Prius and Prius owners.

BTW I own and daily drive an F-250 with a V-10, so I am the complete opposite of a Prius owner. Just wonder where all the hatred comes from?

I have found that probably 1/2 the Hybrid owners lie about the mileage they are getting anyway.

In response to Street Lethal, I'm not really that into 80's music ( except for Van Halen, love em), just have a few LP's and listen to it occasionally. What I love is driving around in an 80's car, listening to loud 80's music and just seeing the look on people's faces. Some look like they'll puke, some double take, some start laughing hysterically, and one guy gave me thumbs up. But I really hate it when they try and drown me out with their Jonas Sh!t
I'm more into 60's stuff, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, Crosby Stills and Nash. Ya know, the stuff no one listens to anymore.

a simple answer to his question would have been to just let me him know that your average mpg's are right around his average horse. He can't win. Sorry but a guy on guy verbal dispute is always won by the man with the faster car. Especially at a light. Can't come back from it.
