I was winning..and then came the Hellcat!

Hey guys, haven't been out much hunting cars this summer and getting random rolls on the highway. But I did take a day off to test my luck at a local Armdrop event. This event usually is my curse for grenading something from just pushing the boost limits and not having any traction. So this time I stuck to my guns and played it extremely safe sticking between 10-13psi and just have some fun runs against anyone willing tp line up. I wasn't out there looking to slay dragons this time..gets me into trouble.

Anyways I lowered the tires to 18psi, lowered the launch control to 3000rpm at first(didn't like it). Firs race I got place with a brand new Mustang GT..I knew right away it had work done since I work at Ford and could hear the slight whistle. It was a performance pack 2 car and had a Roush supercharger kit making just about 700 at the crank. From the start, trying to get the front brakes to hold and use my line lock was pissing me off.I cant heat the tires up nicely at all. I dusted off the rears and staged. Arms drop and spinfest began, grabbed 2nd and my taillights zoomed out of his vision. As we shut down and making our way back the pits..Mustang tries to roll race me and takes the jump...umm not having that.I drop gears and pull him again and wave. He was super cool older guy talking to me afterwards how he couldn't understand why my car was pulling on him and making loud bangs every shift.

Next race was a very clean looking Nova on some fair size slicks. I thought for sure I was just getting a front row seat to a low 10s high 9s car and just take a solo pass to the spectators. We staged..I set the launch to 3400rpm and dumped the clutch. Nova takes a good leave on me but 2nd and 3rd gear I walk him with mph. I met up with him and he told me some details and said it was a 427 and I did see a bottle but no answer on if he sprayed or not...I don't think he got on the juice.

3rd race is where I repeatedly asked myself should I turn it up even though Im not getting traction as it is. I get lined up to a bright yellow Hellcat. This bad boy had some meats and skinnies on it. I knew it was highly modded both inside and out. I had already turned up from 10psi running the Mustang to 12psi the running the Nova.I stuck with the 12psi and just ride things out to see where I stand. Hellcat gets a good long burnout going and I knew..this was gameover for me. We get the thumbs up..arms drop and for a blink I saw him..and the next..he warp speeds away. I pull up to him after and got a good look at the car and it had quite the upgrades. He had a dyno sheet of it making 850whp months ago and is very well dialed in to driving it with his tire setup. He told me hes seen my posts for the group and assumed I was running full tilt so he made sure to try to hook and go so that I couldn't get him on the topend. Well he had nothing to worry about today LOL. We had a few laughs and I continued on.

4th run wasn't really a race but I got placed next to I think a Genesis(wasn't paying attention) it was a female driver out having fun so I just wanted to do 1 last pass for the day after letting the car cool off and had lunch. I turned it up slightly and made a quick A to B and letting out early as trying to make the left turn at the end with my non fully locking brakes is scary enough if I say in it too long.

I parked the car for awhile to watch some passes and had quite a few people come over to take a closer look at what exactly was lurking under my hood. All in all I was more happy to just be able to drive back and say I lasted the day without a major malfunction. As I looked at the video footage is when I found out how bad the gopro external mic adapter was failing and the audio went to hell.

Heres the footage that was somewhat useable.

We looked at a 2019 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk over the weekend. The guy purchased and installed the Hellephant engine in it.
For those that don't know about this engine... it's a plug-n-play crate engine that packs 1000HP right out of the box.
The engine sold for $29,999 and sold out a few days after it's release. This guy pre-ordered and it was installed in June.
This thing is a beast, and if someone wants to own it, it's for sale.
A mere $145,000.

Trust me I missed prowling the streets on friday nights to spank on randoms. Its been a tough year for me and the motivation to take the car out wasnt there..and then when I wanted to do things..the car just wasnt quite able.now that its fairly ironed out the season is over and its going to get much colder soon. Ill try to get out a few nights for catch unsuspecting cars while I can.

Alot of times when im out places not driving the bird..thats when i spot cars id love to run in my area. Then when i do have the bird out..nobody is around to play

Understood, are you still running the same turbo from the old motor? My son graduates this year so I'm getting close to collecting parts.

Those Hellephant swaps are just wrong LOL. They look stock,drop-in turnkey and put down lots of power/torque.The drivetrain is not able to handle it so its only a matter of time before major upgrades are needed for whatever they put them in to handle the power.

I am still using the 84mm On3 turbo I had from the previous motor mishap lol. The turbo seems to perform well...its just the quiestest turbo ever compared to others.Which is good and bad. its good because it keeps the sleeper them when cruising around. But when it comes on,i do wish it was more pronounced.

.
There have been drivetrain upgrades, but here is a 1003 wheel HP Hawk for reference, from Hennessey.
