I have a clean driving record.
I got radared going 88 in a 60 zone back in November.
I think I have a pretty good defense.
1) The first sign after where I got pulled over says 70 km/h. It is a few feet forward. There are no signs before ( I turned on from another street ). The 70 sign does NOT say BEGINS, it just says 70, so it can be proven that the speed limit is 70 not 60.
2) I was driving the speed of traffic. I have a letter from my friend saying that I was driving hte speed of traffic and very cautiously.
3) I have a letter from my G driving test, this is in hand with #2. It says on numerous occasions throughout my test, I failed to drive the speed of traffic which is very dangerous. I was driving the limit throughout my test, and at one point in my driving test when I was going 50 in a 50 zone, he told me to speed up. I told him I was going the limit, and he still asked me to speed up.
Thus, I can say that in driving school, and during my GOVERNMENT LEGISLATED driving test I was taught to drive the speed of TRAFFIC, and alonghand the note my friend wrote me and the fact that it's a 70 zone not a 60, thus only making me 18 over the limit, I think it will be thrown out. Especially since i've been driving for 5 years now and have a clean record.

Good luck with that.... I just had a drivers interview today becaues I managed to rack up 9 points somehow... she decided to let me drive.... so all is good for another year. Insurance is in place and I am in relatively good shape.

BACK FROM COURT, THE COP SHOWED UP! CRAP!
And... I am so pissed off.
I won. Muahaha!
So... I get there, cop is like "yah, tell you what, let's plea bargain... I'll lower it to 15 over and no points, and a $40 fine". I said "tell ya what, no thanks!".
So... I wait... everybody else in the court room pleaded guilty to a lesser charge except me.
So I'm there for a good 45 minutes, then my trial begins.
Cop gets up and starts presenting his evidence. He says according to his notes he caught me on the radar going 82 km/h down a slight hill.
My ticket said 88 km/h. The court records said 85 km/h. The judge says to the prosecutor "DO YOU SEE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR EVIDENCE? BECAUSE I DO, CASE DISMISSED!". I got so mad because I had a whole defense prepared and was looking forward to it...
Ah well, that cop ran outta court faster than anything after the case was dismissed. And me... I'm free with a clean driving record. :lala:

Good job man... I will be fighting every ticket I ever get from this point forward... even if I am 100% guilty. Just so everyone knows... this is important. For insurance purposes... they go by the CONVICTION date.. and not the OFFENCE date. This means that if your insurance is up for renewal within the next month, FIGHT THE TICKET, even if you lose it will push it back far enough that it won't affect your policy.

Yeah that's pretty much it... they do a vision test... and then ask you if you realize how dangerous speeding is.. and etc etc...
If you convince them that you are rehabilitated they will let you keep your license... BTW this is my 3rd interview and I have never had it suspended yet.

Unless..... you're not the cop are you? Did you read the board and fly down from the states?
lol
In any case, I realize he was only doing his job, and I'm not making fun of anything, if anything I am happy. I was just worried I'd screw up my defense because I have strepthroat and didn't get any sleep last night and have real trouble talking because of this virus, but it all worked out because I didn't even have to present my evidence.

You did'nt have a defence. The way it went was the best you could have hoped for.
No. 2 and No.3 are hearsay so they would be out for sure and No.1 would be difficult to establish. You'd have to cross examine the cop to get No. 1 to stick and even then I have my doubts.
IMO the best defence was the pictures because maybe the JP would understand why anyone in their right mind would want to get out if that schithole city asap.
In the alternative, you could have told them that you were getting road head at the time and didn't give a rats about no f'ckin speed limit.
Anyway, congrats.

Kinda like racing, winning is winning! You won and of course you will never speed again now, right?

alex...lemme tell you something...dont boast about it about beatin the cop..because now..that that cop has lost to you in court...he still has your license number on hand...AND..next time he catches you doin something wrong..he will take his time...even if it takes him 2 hours to write you 1 ticket...he will make sure it sticks and you get the biggest conviction possible...
just a lil friendly advice
