Visual Inspections?

Just wondering, sorry if it has been answered before but I can't find it. Do they do visual inspections for the E-Test in Ontario? Or what are the laws about removing the AIR pump / system and whatnot?

Search this board using drive clean. That brings up a lot of hits.

If you get stopped at one of the roadside checks your car has to have all of it's original emissions schit intact. The fines can be quite expensive if it's not there.

As George pointed out- it's not getting the test done that's the issue- it's getting pulled over at the side of the road and being "inviolation" that will get you screwed.

Most e-test places don't pop the hood for any other reason that connecting the probe. They do a gas-cap test, make sure the car isn't belching blue smoke, doesn't have exhaust holes or fluid leaks, and will stop/start appropriately. Shops that start getting picky beyond that- just get out and go somewhere else- you're being viewed as "Today's Money Maker".

And beyond that, other than the AIR pump itself, virtually nothing else emissions-related is taking any sort of power away from the engine- so why remove it?

I don't wanna remove it for power, I wanna remove it for looks and sake of drilling and welding new A.I.R. fittings to my headers.
