Lets hear your OPP stories!

I have had my share of camaro related run-ins with the OPP, and other municipal Police. Here is my latest:

I was on my way to a bachelor party from London to Waterloo. I had 2 other people in the car, and I was averaging about 140 on the 401. I thought I was going plenty fast, but then a jetta buzzed by me on the inside lane. I am sure most of you know that this cannot be tolerated. I dropped down into third, and proceeded to smoke by that bitch around a curve, and under an overpass. By that time it was too late. I downshifted again in a feeble attempt to slow the car down without turning on the brake lights. It seemed like a good idea, but I have no exhaust after the convertor. It revved up to about 5g's, and there was fire blowing out of the cat.

The cop pulled me over, and took a walk around the car. The first thing he said is "I know you were speeding, but I don't have you on lazer or radar". Then he says "I can give you three different tickets... .which one do you want?"

1. Your windows are opaque (limo)
2. Your exhaust is not correct
3. Your licence plate is not correct (front window)

I decided to be stupid and argue with him saying that my exhaust just broke, and I was going to get it fixed. He then asked me to get out of the car, and look underneath with him. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that the convertor was glowing cherry red. I ended up getting a $110 ticket for the windows with no demerits. It could have been alot worse.

I'm 23. That was actually my first ticket in two years, but when I was younger, and lived in small town... being pulled over because of my car was a routine thing. In this instance I was being a moron, and deserved a ticked (should have gotten a bigger one), BUT there has been more than one occasion where I got tickets purely because I was driving a red camaro. I have a cavalier that I drive more than the Z28, and I have never gotten a ticket in that car...

I am not sure what you were trying to imply by asking my age, but yes I do like to run my car once in a while... and there is no reason to own a...

Dude I turn 23 in a week.RELAX! I was just curious. My Z28 is in about 1000 pieces right now so it's pretty difficult to drive. Most guys that I see with thirdgens drive like idiots. It's not a stereotype its just fact.I wasn't calling you out or anything.I know all about getting pulled over for no reason.I've owned 3 TA's(2 where Y84 bandit cars) and a Z28.I like to beat on my cars too but I sure as hell don't do it on the 401.

Man... I am just about to go to court to fight a ticket... I was returning to London from Windsor on the 401... Was driving fairly lax as well ~120.. 2 minutes before i get pulled over a minivan passed me... i was in a relaxed mood so i didnt really care then i see the cherries flashing.. i get pulled over and get a ticket for doing 121 in a 100 zone.... on the 401 thats going slow..... Im fighting the thing ... I know the only reason i was pulled over was because i was drinving a red camaro... Man I wish the OPP would leave us alone.

Long story, not about the OPP but I want to share anyway and I need to kill an hour

My g/f and I were sitting in my old 84 Trans Am. I was innocently drinking my beer. Suddenly two RCMP cars come out of nowhere, light up and box me in. I told my g/f to throw the J out the window and relax.

This RC with a thick french accent (very uncommon here) asks me to exit the vehicle. I do that and he grabs the beer I just put down on the console and says "eeehhh ei'l praytend i dient see dat" and dumps my beer out Being as I just finished a few law class way back then, I knew he just fudged up and now I was truly relaxed, he couldn't do anything severe now.

The other RCMP car left already and my g/f was just wondering around my car all wasted.

The french RC makes these funny sniffing expressions (I remember this vividly). "eeehh it smelllls like marijuana" -long pause- "May I search your vehicle?".

The law classes tell me now I'm cornered. I can say no, he arrests me then searches my trash can and I spend a night in jail and have my car impounded. Or I can say yeah and see how it plays out -he already went in my car without permission-

So he's doing a very thorough check of the car and out comes all this paraphernalia from under the back seats that in all truth wasn't mine. He finally finds a baggie stuffed on top the springs under my seat (I forgot about that one). We just kinda starred at each other and I started to smile and so does he. "eeeeehh peaze git inta the back seat of my car". So he's writing his report and we're chatting about stuff and the cop is telling me how much nicer people are here than in Quebec and how I'm a model criminal and not giving him a hard time

He gives me the summons to appear and tells me he'll be by on his rounds again in two hours and I should be gone. I go back to my car pop the hatch, grab another beer and found my other baggie and rolling papers (he didn't look any further, after he found his first piece of evidence he was already happy I guess). My g/f looked pretty freaked out and I thought I should mellow her out. We only lived about a km away so I wasn’t concerned with driving.

Anyhow six months later: "Her majesty the queen versus blah blah on an account of marijuana possession" I never forget those words, I was really worried about paying a huge fine. I'm standing there (clean cut, of course) and the judge is asking me questions and finds out I was in University, graduated early and have a job. The judge smiles and says "Name, you should join one of those organization that are attempting to legalize marijuanna", he asks the prosecutor if he has anything to say, the prosecuter says something to the affect of ‘I don’t care’. Anyhow I got unconditional absolute discharge, and was warned next time it was a $100 fine and by the fourth time it could be entered on my record. Smart *** Question: if there was no record how would they know it’s the fourth time?

I wouldn’t believe that story if someone told me, but I have a witness. I got away with some crazy schit back when I was young and stupid. Every day I count my blessings I’m alive.

I have this advice: be polite, subtly give the officer respect and let them feel their power don’t give attitude until the last second and only if you know you’re right, if you did something wrong at least act like your fully prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions. And oh yeah, hide your radar detector. And like in fear and loathing: “Make the B*astard chase you, calmly pulling over to the right raises contempt in the heart of your average highway patrol officer”

I forgot to validate my license and was kindly reminded by a police officer who then followed me to the insurance broker. I could have lost my car for 30 days but thanks to my silver tongue…..

I watched a friend get a ticket cause she gave an officer and the person she hit a hassle. She really thought it was the ice’s fault even though she was driving too fast. Ended up with $100 ticket for driving too fast for road conditions, and another for driving without undue care and attention lol

I have a few more stories, but someone’s gonna call it BS, and wouldn’t blame them. I’ve had a Firebird on two wheels while on a chase. I had to ditch the car, but I got away.

Damed Theieves!!……

Disclaimer:

Dramatization: This re-enactment may never have happened, all events portrayed are fiction and any correlation between these and actual events is strictly coincidental .

PS. The gov't has been installing black boxes in 4x4 SUV's to find out what goes on in the last moments before a crash. Can you guess what the most common last words were in Saskatchewan?

Hey, Hold my beer, WATCH THIS!!

Have you guys ever crossed the border driving your thirdgen or F-car ? If you think the OPP is nasty you should try on a customs agent for size. The US side never seems to give a dam but I ALLWAYS get searched when I come home. They made me pull off the shaker on one of my TA's once.

I've had numerous run in's with the local police and find that 75% of them are quite reasonable and professional if you treat them with respect. Unfortunatly there are the 25% who are on a power trip and who really are out to harrass people and collect tax money (because that's all a speeding ticket is anyway - a tax on those who are unlucky enough to be caught).

If you get a cop who is obviously a yokel then begin taking notes immediately. Judges love to see notes and the cop will be irritated and less likely to show up in court. My buddy got out of a racing ticket because of the notes I took when we were pulled over. We weren't racing the other guy (he was another buddy) and the cop knew it, he was just sitting in the parking lot with nothing else to do and saw us at the light.

I'm soon moving to Florida so I now have to learn the tricks of the State Trooper. I'll be glad to say goodbye to the constant attention our cars get from cops (and the lack of rice burners)

Run ins with the OPP? Oh not me never I would never do anything wrong. The cops have no reason to suspect I would do something against the law. I'm just an innocent 19 year old driving a black 12 second IROC off of an $12 hour job. I have no other source of income Anyways I don't want to tell any of my counless stories unless I have a lawyer present.

Re: Lets hear your OPP stories!

One morning i was heading for the golf course. 8:00 tee time. Me and my buddy were drinking til 4:00 in the morning, got up at 7:00 and headed out. The car must of smelled like a brewery.
It had no muffler at the time, and i was speeding a little bit when a women OPP lit me up.
I told her i was in a hurry because i was late for a tee-time(she could see the clubs in the hatch), she checked Lic., reg., and POI.
She came back and told me, she didn't want to make my day worse than it already was, so slow down and go straight to the course.
Must of been a golfer.
I thought i was done.

Re: Lets hear your OPP stories!

Also reading the long post above, about showing respect to officers. I have been pulled over 7-10 times by city cops, in the 20 years i drove a red IROC, and only got 1 ticket (70 in a 50) If I had a good excuse why i was speeding he probably would've let me go.
Show respect, be polite, and play like you didn't know. A cop would rather hear "i didn't realize i was speeding, sir " than "The car infront of me was going faster, you out to get my red camaro. "
