Installing a cam, have a few questions.

I want more power so I figured I would go with a different cam. The one I found is Crane PowerMax it has 204/214 duration and .423"/.446" lift. I heard that you dont want more than .430 lift so is that going to be to much. I want a cam that is as big or a little bigger than the cam in the 305 manuals and the other cams that ive found are a little smaller. Also will I have to worry about the computer not working right with this cam. THANKS

People say the .430 mark to be safe w/ the press in rocker studs, but I have seen a couple guys run .480 lift cams w/ no problems. But that is as high as I would go IMO. That would probably be a good cam in a 305. I don't think it would have to much of an issues running w/ the computer. I almost put in a 210/220 cam in my 305 before I started my 350 project.

Personally, I think the cam is too small considering all the trouble you have to go through to replace the cam. The computer shouldn't have a problem. That cam isn't much different than the stock cam that cam in my 305. But since you don't plan on doing the heads that cam should work fine. I am changing my cam and from what I have heard the stock heads will be a big restriction so I plan on doing them at the same time as the cam. I'm using either a 212/218 cam or 218/224 CompCam XE.

I am running a Summit TPI cam, do you think it would be worth it to take the time to port the LB9 heads or should I just keep them stock, use roller rockes, headers, SLP TPI runners, 2200 stall convertor, and suspension mods.
