i have a noise between 1500 and 2000 rpms its a ticking noise what could it be .it gose away after 2000.i think it might be lifter need help please.oh ya and im not getting n e check engine lights.so i dont know what it could be

I would guess a lifter, try adjusting the valves. What code are you getting?

i dont have a engine decoder. so i dont know

Unplug the EGR and see if the ticking stops.

Is a sound like such that can be reproduced by tapping 2 spoons together? If so, readjust the valves. If it a bit more faint, try tightening the exhaust mounting bolts. Also, injectors can be make a slightly audible tick

thanks ill try. that if it dosent work ill try to adjust the valves. if that isnt it ill try to change the lifters if that dont work i dont know what it is

i went to my buddys house to take a look at my car and we determend that i have bad lifters.so im going to go and get the lifters and replace them all. ill keep you all posted with the results

Lifters rarely go. I would guess loose rocker.

If it has a bunch of miles or didn't have the oil changed on a regular basis it could be the lifters. But a lifter tick isn't anything major, try adjusting the valves.

I did adjust them but it still was there.the thing is i thinik the one lifter is frezzing up .so im just going to replace them all that way they r new and i dont have to worry about them for a long time
i only have 77,000 miel on the car

Freezing or collapsed? 2 different things. Collapsed would make a noise as the internal plunger hits the bottom of the lifter body. This could be the case with the lower oil psi of the lower rpm's. At higher rpm's there is adequate pressure, or at least enough so that the lifter doesn't tick audibly.

Pull the valve covers and watch the rocker arms. If they all move in the same manner, then the lifters are fine. If you see one that isn't moving like the rest, shut down and apply pressure on that pushrod. If it's collapsed, you will feel very little resistance.

If you still have a bad lifter, and since you have a factory roller setup, you can by a single replacement, no need to by all 16. Roller lifters don't develop wear patterns that are specific to that particular cam.
