need help deciding what cam

Hey guy's, I have an 89 IROC-Z, basically stock...brand new OEM heads as of June, shorty headers, hi-flo cat, magnaflow stainless cat-back, smog delete (air pump, air tubes). I'm looking to do a cam over the winter. I've been looking at comp cams online and I was just wondering what cams you guys are using. I don't want anything overboard, but I want nice lope in my exhaust- especially at idle. I want something that will give me a lot of gain, but that will work nicely with a basically stock engine. Also, the car has 2.77 posi rear which I am swapping to a 3.45 or 4th gen 10 bolt 3.42.

Thanks for any help/advice, Ted

Thanks for the help. Any recommendations for crane cams, because that is what I meant. I wrote comp cams by mistake

Because you must remove the intake manifold to swap out cams, you might want to think about upgrading the intake manifold. The Accel intake is a good choice here.

And what about the heads?

The heads are new GM heads. I couldn't buy anything else because I barely had enough money even just for them. It's a daily driver as of now with 118K. I'm just looking for small upgrades with what I have. I go to college full time and I work part time, I don't have the cash to build up a serious car. I plan on keeping the car for a long time..I figured after school I would build up my own engine for the car and with that engine, go all out.
