TPIS Big Mouth intake and 1205 Gaskets

So basically I'm getting ready to port my intake to match my heads, which are almost a perfect match to the Felpro 1205 Gasket.

I lined up the gasket on the intake and traced around the ports. Looks like a bit of material to take off, but no biggie....

Then I take the gasket off and look at the intake again... I notice around the edge of 2 of the intake ports, the flat gasket mating surface will be pretty thin after porting, I'm talking about 5/16 between the port and the "inside" of the intake around the intake ports on 2 of them... is this going to be enough to seal the intake, or will I have trouble?

Has anyone else ported a stock or aftermarket TPI base to the 1205 Gasket? Did it seal up alright? I'm kinda nervous.

Here's a picture to show you what I mean...

Let me know what you think.

I would think it would be ok.

I'm porting one to a 1206. Heh.
You might want to check how the intake lines up with the head before you go grinding away on the intake, I had to modify the head port entry a little because the ports on the intake were already a bit high and didnt line up real well. Fortunately, neither was at a 1206 size yet so I got away with it with no issues.

Probably not the best pic but... you can sorta see it

Well I'm figuring my head almost perfectly matches the 1205 as is, so I am just going to touch it here and there to make it a perfect match. and make sure it's perfect with all the bolt holes completely centered with the gasket's bolt holes.

Then the gasket bolt holes completely centered to the intake's bolt holes should line everything else up perfectly, I mean everything is gonna match the gasket perfectly when done, and as long as the bolt holes match perfectly on both, then everything has no choice but to match... right?

So as far as sealing... anyone else know if I'll be okay... I figure after looking at the heads that it should be enough material to seal, since the heads look like the intake should look after porting (as far as gasket mating surface width)

Heads are matched to the gasket perfectly now... That took me.. almost 4 hours, they turned out great.

Got one port pretty much done on the intake... that took me about a half hour, now I gotta clean it up inside and open it up more inside... Also have 7 more ports to do. LOL

It's turning into a loooonnnngggg project.

After porting my intake i found I went thin on the intake walls and that the gaskets are a little fatter then the walls now. Will my gaskets get destoryed once it's on the car and running. It's not on the car yet but will be soon. Do you think its a good idea from me to file the gasket down to the walls of the intake or just leave it be and let the motor eat it away? please help thanks
