gas

Chrome is correct, most other countries add a ton of taxes to the gas so prices are not a fair comparison. Germany right now pays about $7.00 a gallon, but like I said, they have a ton of taxes added to pay for road repair, construction etc....but in truth, those other countries pay about the same from opec for gas as the U.S. does.
Anyway, here in Ohio I run nothing but 94 octane Sunoco in all my cars and it is running about $2.55 a gallon. Funny thing I noticed is the local station where I buy 110 octane has not been affected by all this. The 110 octane gas is still $3.60 a gallon, has been around that price for years. Pretty soon if the pump gas keeps going up and catching the price of 110 octane, I will just start running that instead, then I can put a more aggressive tune on the cars My father has to run that stuff all the time in his 69 GTO, he is so happy that the gas prices are not effecting that, at least not right now anyway Oh well, nothing we can do but grin and bear it, I just keep filling up the gas tanks and having fun. Larry.

I bought a new Nissan Sentra in 03, for my everyday, economical driver, and the sticker said "$830 in fuel cost to run this vehicle annually" That value has almost doubled since then.

gas

I am used to buying alot of high test pump gas. My daily driver for years has been a chevy monza with a 406 sb. It's a little too radical for most for a driver but I like it that way. I have a few other old muscle cars that I drive quite a bit in the summer time so I spend even more on gas this time of year, and they all take 94 octane Sunoco, including my daily driver.
I just recently purchased this Iroc with a 5.7 litre and I can't believe this thing is getting 18 mpg driving around town, I haven't even had it on the highway yet. This is the first time I have ever had a car that gets that kind of mileage.
Everyone is happy to have 30 mpg cars and I am tickled to be getting 18. I have been driving cars that get 15 mpg or less (highway) for the last 25 years. Larry.

If I'm thrifty I can spend 2.09-2.11 on 87. In NW IN.

I'm keeping my beater/Saturn work car though lol 35 mpg on the highway lol

TTA only take spremium, thats gonna hurt when it comes out for further tuning. Hopefully goes quick. Should be an easy mid 20+ on the highway though.

My Formula managed 18-21 in mixed driving and 23-24 on the highway when all was running and tuned correctly. This includes stock 350 and later hotcammed vortec 350.

It's now a 383 with a smallish cam so I am expecting the mpg to stay where they are.

The 350 GTA was good for 18-20 around town and I pull 25 mpg when I brought it home form Salt Lake City.

Further tuning can get you more mileage and power as well if u care to dabble in DIY PRom tuning :-)

later

$2.15 here in MA. I always try to put it in perspective. It's the price you pay for a nice ride. It's nothing compared to what I've payed for extra parts and insurance especially.

I pay $1800 a year on insurance. I drive about 8000 miles a year at the most. Thats $0.225 per mile! I get 18mpg and at $2.15 per gallon that's $0.118 per mile. Insurance costs twice as much as gas does for me!

I understand that gas prices are sky high but I don't really care. Can't change it anyway. I get about 8-10 mpg with my Z28 and I love to drive it. I am not gonna get another car for better fuel economy. I will drive my car every day even if the prices are 3.25 a gallon. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to build this car up and I'm not looking back. Do I like the prices? Nope...but I sure as hell love driving my car more. Thirdgens are awesome. Enjoy them regardless of gas prices.

exactly

I am with ya there. All of my cars use quite a bit of gas, and I love to drive them too much to just quit.
Especially with summer coming, I have a 454 Chevelle, a 70 Formula, 56 Nomad, 454 pickup truck, 406 monza, etc...none of them are great on gas but I don't care, I refuse to let the gas prices dictate what I have to drive. I was just commenting on how this new Iroc (old to you guys) gets good mileage compared to what I have been used to the last 25 years. I just really prefer to drive the old stuff. I bought the Iroc because I have always liked the body style, and they are getting old enough now that you don't see them as much, it just doesn't have enough butt to satisfy me, but I am fixing that.
I mentioned earlier about the pump gas getting close to the price of the 110 octane around here. If that happens I will just start running the 110 octane gas anyway, the older cars I have will love it anyway and I can get more aggressive with the tuneup so there is a bright side to it.

western Australia is much the same as NZ. Translates to about US$3.50 per gallon. Kinda sucks seems I have to travel 30kms (20 mile) to the neerest town and about 100 mile to the nearest city to see my girl on weekends..... Wage goes quick, not much mod money left which leads to higher fuel costs, but im not buying a *****.........ever.

gas prices

man the gas prices go up and down so much I stopped caring. I don't even shop for cheap prices anymore, I just fill it up.
I did read something interesting though that will affect gas prices here in southern Ohio. Since they are wanting to do away with E-check here in South West Ohio starting in December, they are now talking about brining in Reformulated gas. They wanted to bring in reformulated gas a few years ago when they were debating starting e-check here but our Governor Taft did not want to charge more for gas so the e-check made it's way in instead. Now that there is talk of removing the e-check, reformulated gas has come back into the equation, which means higher gas prices since they charge slightly more for that per gallon. So the government will get there money either way, it doesn't matter. It's all a money game and we get the shaft no matter what. That reformulated stuff is junk, as if pump gas didn't suck already, I would rather have the e-check in place, especially since I live out in the country and didn't have to do it anyway Now with reformulated gas, they will get there money from everyone instead of a few select counties.
They always find a way to stick it to us Larry.

Yeah, you're not alone there, we get shafted too. Our government recently added another 5 cents tax to petrol - we now pay around 50% tax on the price of petrol per litre. How rude is that!

Well a month and a half ago I posted about gas being 2.56 for regular 87 octane.

It's around 2.30 now, so it's gone down about 24 cents, lets hope it drops some more, but I doubt it, since summer is coming on soon.

Went to PA this weekend... surprisingly NYC for once is cheaper for gas. $3.79 for premium over in PA, most I've paid recently here was $3.40.

Not that it sucks any less...

hmm, this is going to take a bunch of math...

1 gallon = 3.79 liter
1USD = 1.19CAD

gas here is $1.18 a liter for regular

That equals $4.47 / gallon

That turns into $3.75USD / gallon up in Canada in Vancouver. I'm getting raped compared to you guys it seems.

Wait Wait Wait... lemme get this straight, you guys are more expensive than us here in California? I thought the bay area was always the most... but I guess not. I got gas yesterday, regular was $2.95, mid was $3.08 and premium was $3.18. That was at 76 also, not a cheap crappy mom and pop station. There's other stations around here that are the same or maybe a few cents cheaper...

I'm just surprised our prices are lower for once.
