Question about my 88 GTA...
My GTA was formerly owned by my Dad. It is a 88 GTA 350 TPI, after maintaining it for years he gave it to me. Anyways he always said that in the 88 model year. They used a deferent motor than in the 350 formulas. And that they actually used the corvette motor. Also I have been told this by a couple of mechanics. I never put much validity into this comment. But I keep reading weird posts about the motors in 88gta, like they have 4 bolt mains.. And all other firebirds have 2 bolt mains. Anyways any clarification would help... thanks...

I had a friend that worked in the parts department at the Pontiac dealer here, and he says that the GTA had different part number exhaust manifolds with a larger inside area and different part number injectors than the formula. I don't know if they're the same as a corvette, though.

Axle/Gears: Always the good ones
I had a friend that knew my cousins friends third borther by marriage and he said:
"In f-bodies any 305 or 350 was the same as every other f-body models 305 or 350 engine. 305 TBI, 305 TPI, 350TPI were the same from car to car"
With the exception of air intakes from Camaro to Firebird.
And a dual cat vs. single cat 305 or 350 and accompanying changes, but were the same for the various combinations across the board.
All the hard parts are identical

Just dont :-)
Anyone could have bothered to search and found the answer.
Its in the FAQ and has been covered a lot more than once in posts
And oh yes, the corvette 350 was different, had aluminum heads and more headers than manifolds for the exhaust and external egr source. Also had 4bolt mains, but this has been repudiated a few times and there is no positive answer they were all 4 bolt or just regular 2 bolt blocks , least that I know off
