Mods to MAF TPI that require no ECM tuning ...

Just curious, I have tuning stuff and I can re-tune but I'm wondering how far people have modded their MAF TPI setup and still been OK with the stock tuning? You know since the MAF can sort of compensate for changes (to a certain point). And I dont mean the limits of the MAF itself or the ECM. Wondering about the limits as far as how many mods you can do and still be OK. If anyone has done a mod and still been OK without a re-tune I'd like to hear your experiences. Like for example, I know you can only adjust the FPR so far before it throws off the fuel curve, something like 10% from stock setting. Stuff like that, any computer friendly TPI cams you've used without problems, or any extreme boltons (haha). 1.6 RR's would be another good one. Don't necessarily need power numbers or track times, just curious about the limits of what the MAF and a stock tune can handle.

set up a buddy of mine's w/ a Stealthram, bowl job on the heads, and 220/230 497/510 cam, Kb flat-tops, headers, 3" flowmaster cat-back, about 47 psi fuel setting. Still stock tune. He ran this combo w/ a stock(but ported) LTR set-up before going HSR.
only "tuning" done was setting "minimum air" mechanically.

Interesting, I would have thought any head work or an intake swap would require tuning. I assumed headers/exhaust would be a given, I know alot of guys with that and MAF and stock tune (I'm almost there on that one). Thanks for the info guys ...

Scheister isn't that the Summit cam? It is a little teeny cam, I'm running that in a 318 Chrysler.

nah its a comp cams cam. i actually got it when i first for the car and had the heads off. i had the engine torn so far down i decided i wanted to do the cam at the same time. since i didnt know much about what would mess with the computer i called summit up and asked them. well they had 2 cams one that was only slightly larger than the best 305 cam that was in there (not peanut cam) and they had another one that was supposed to work with a 350. they ended up telling me to get the smaller one and that the larger one would screw with the computer. well when i went to order i got the part numbers mixed up and ended up with the bigger one that they said wouldnt work... i took my chances and found out they just didnt know what they were talking about.

after i got the cam in i have done a lot of reading about them and if i would have known then what i do now i would have gotten a cheaper and slightly larger summit cam.

oh and it is in a 305
